Links for HERE not showing up?

I'm relatively new to the forum and I pick up my new and first RDX tomorrow (Friday). As I've been reading the forum I keep seeing HERE and in the context of the sentences, it implies that HERE has a clickable link. However, there is never a link. I have tried several browsers, several devices, and I have checked my settings but I'm not able to see or click on any links. What am I missing?

I’m laughing, but not at you, with you. When I was first on this forum, I thought the same thing. But that’s not referring to a link, HERE is the map provider for the navigation. We’ve had lots of issues getting (or should I say not getting) the promised map updates from HERE.

That's funny!! And, it was in the map update thread where I was seeing it! Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to you (assuming you're in the US). :-)

Actually, I think someone did use a link HERE, as in click on this link to go someplace, but it wasn't pointing to a HERE website, even though the sentence containing the link was in a thread about HERE maps.

Does your brain hurt yet?

maybe you should ask the dealer to update the maps for you before you take delivery to save you the hassle of trying to do it yourself.

Yes indeed; I'm just glad to know that I'm not completely crazy! :-)

Yes, I plan to do that today but it should not be rocket science to use a USB drive to update one's mapping software. :-) I'd rather do it myself than have to do it when I happen to have an appointment at the dealer in the future.

What a stupid fucking name for a navigation / traffic system. On top of that, everything about it sucks. The traffic reporting on my 5 year old Garmin Nuvi worked betterr.

Yes, it should not be rocket science. Go over to the Map Update thread and see that computer science might be good to know.

Just got off the phone with my dealer/service dept. They don't do map updates at all and they can't get your VIN into the database. All they do is call Acura Client Relations when they don't have clue.

Yeah, we can do that and be just as unsuccessful when we don't have a clue.

So many organizations, even large tech companies, can't deal with technology. Or, they just can't get enough qualified people. A couple weeks ago, I had my home phone service switched from Verizon to Optimum (which I already had for TV and internet). The "technician" who came over, didn't change a thing. Not the wiring, modem, router or any cable boxes. He called Optimum customer service and he was put on hold for 9 minutes before someone at the office could reprogram my cable modem and set up the account. I could have done that. He had his cell phone on speaker and I heard the recording say "Your wait time is 9 minutes.". I even said to him, you mean to tell me you don't have a direct line to a technician? Just incredible.

Spoiler

Well if the dealer will not do the map updates does anyone know if a 3.0 USB 32 GB thumb drive will work or must it be a 2.0 version? I probably need to order a thumb drive and I want to make sure I get one that will actually work in the RDX so I can update the map software if I need to do it personally.

Yes. I used a 32 Gb stick that says it's 3.0. I formatted it on my laptop for FAT32, downloaded the update with no issues. It's in my car updating as I write this. Fingers crossed but it appears to be going as advertised.

Thanks. I’ll order a drive so I can use it for updating the mapping software.
