Leather Discoloration
Leather Discoloration
I’ve noticed some discoloration of the leather (Espresso) in the back seat. After a good cleaning, it’s still there. Specifically the edge of the seat (knee level) is lighter than the rest of the seat. This is a seat very rarely occupied - maybe only a handful of times in the last few years. And while I do leave my sunshade open pretty much all the time, no other seat in the vehicle shows any discoloration including the front seat. What’s really telling us that the discoloration ends exactly at the seam between the rear seats.
Is this something others have seen? Did I get a bad piece of leather in the middle? Is there anything I can do about it?

I don't see any discoloration anywhere in mine but my interior is beige.
Can you post a picture? I would very much doubt that much damage from the sun through the sunroof (which likely filters most of the UV that would cause such fading) that too in a place like NY.
In any case, if it bothers you, you should bring it up with the service department. They can advise if it's wear and tear (you are no worse off than you are now) or if it's something that warranty can fix.

Acura liberally used synthetic leather in the RDX and didn't color match very well.
On the rear seats, the left and right topsides of each seat are synthetic and only the very center portion is leather. This is a very gauche move by Acura because companies have been using synthetic sides for years, but usually the entire topside is leather in both rows. On my A-Spec, the synthetic red is very dull and it annoys the heck out of me.
