Infotainment screen flickers after car sits in sun

I’m noticing the infotainment screen slightly flickers after the car sits out in the sun for some time. Anyone else ever notice this? Thanks.

Nope.

My only issue is it switches between night and day mode on a cloudy day or when I go under an overpass.

With the way the screen protrudes above the dash, it can easily gets overheated from the sun shining directly through the windshield. We all need to get sunshades or clear thermal windshield tint.

Not to hijack the OP, but have you tried turning down the low light sensitivity?

This is a good idea for several reasons and may help with the flickering, if heat is the issue. I use them to reduce heat load and fading / cracking

My 19 RDX has been through a summer in AZ and has not had this flickering. 100 + degrees for weeks on end. And the RDX has been outside in this heat many times. No windshield sunshade. First few years here we used sunshades, then we kinda got away from using them.

It's going to be 104-108 Thursday, and up to 110 on Friday! A bit early for this heat, but June is our hottest month.

Yeah? How do you do that? The only thing I can find are the brightness settings for the day and night displays. Nothing for sensitivity threshold.

Pg 351 of pdf OM:
Settings > Vehicle > Lighting Setup > Auto Light Sensitivity [Min/Low/Mid/High/Max]

There is a note saying not available on all models, but I believe this is one feature we get that our northern neighbors do not.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I might never have thought to look there. I looked under Display and I just assumed that menu was for setting the behavior of the interior lights or headlights, which I don't care to change.

It's on p348 of my 2019 manusl and the description says "Changes the timing for the headlights to come on.". Hopefully, it's the sensitivity like the menu says and not timing.

I haven't changed this settings so I can't verify its function, but that was my take on the option. Saying "timing" may just be technical writer semantics for the time it takes to operate based on the setting. I'll offer a double your money back guarantee at this point.

It so happens I am a tech writer by profession and that setting probably changes the "time constant" or "hysteresiis" of the sensor, thereby changing the sensitivity. But I would never write that in a user guide.

Why is it soo hard to read the manual for your vehicle to understand how it works???? You could even poke around in the menus to see what each one is about. It’s a FREE DOWNLOAD and FREE to order from Acura online after purchase.

I did read the manual. And I poked around the menu since my last post. But I won't know if the changes will have the intended effect until i drive it under certain conditions.

Now I'm done explaining myself to you.

I had screen flicker issues last winter about a half dozen times. Haven't seen it in warmer temperatures **knock on wood**
