HVAC system on 2024 A-Spec Advance Issues

Hello all,

This is my 4th Acura, and I am wondering if there is something wrong with the HVAC system on my 24' Aspec Advance. When I get into the vehicle (and it's about 110 degrees inside the cabin), the HVAC fan speed is at the lowest speed when I start the vehicle. I have it set to "Auto," but it doesn't blow full-blast unless I manually turn the fan up. I had it set at 68' this afternoon, and it was 109' in my car when I started it, yet, It was blowing cold air at the lowest speed.

Am I totally missing something? I never noticed this happening on my 21' RDX Aspec and 23' TLX Type S. I'm guessing a dealer visit?

Thanks all!

It doesn't blow at full blast until the AC can cool the vent's air to be colder than the interior's air. It doesn't want to blow hotter uncooled engine air in your face. Does it blow full blast if you leave it alone for a minute or so?

Also, it shuts down the fan speed if you are on a phone call, or if you press the mic button and the car is trying to listen to what you say.

If it doesn't eventually blow full blast except for above, then definitely take it in.

I set mine to "auto" with a temp of 67-68. It does blow at a lower fan speed till the system starts to cool down - but never at HIGH like in manual mode.

Open all the windows when you first get in to let the hot air out, then close them while the system cools down. Acura/Honda AC is not a strong as Lexus, BMW or Infiniti.

Things that will make your RDX more comfortable in high summer temps.
  1. Tint the windshield (LLUMAR 80% air or 70% in Xpel or Kavaca). Keeps the dash, steering wheels and seat from getting super hot. Aid in reducing glare and 99% UV and zero negative nighttime driving. Makes a HUGE difference.
  2. Tint the drivers and passengers doors 35% or 20% ceramic (20% matches the back factory tinted windows).
  3. Put a windshield shield in when parked. I also leave the windows a tiny bit cracked open, letting the hot air out. Heat soak of a car sitting closed up reaches super high temps quickly.
  4. Open the rear seat vents fully.
  5. Set the ventilated seats to "auto".

That makes sense. I will have to wait and see if the speed changes on its own today. I kept manually adjusting it, so I'm not sure if it is working properly.

Thanks so much for your help!

Just to rule out all possible points...are you hitting the auto button for a/c and not the auto button for the seats? They are close to each other and on more than one occasion I've found myself reaching for the seat button before realizing I need to reach a little higher.

For what it's worth, I live in the Phoenix area and mine will go to full blast on auto within about 30 seconds or so of firing it up. This can be in the middle of a 110+ degree day. It only keeps the fan speed low enough to make sure it's not blasting you with hot air, but it doesn't necessarily wait until it can blow ice cubes before ramping up.
