How many gallons is your average fuel up?

I usually fuel up when my range shows about 30 miles left, which is usually around 15.5 gallons.

It depends, most of the time I fill up whenever the following are met:

1. I have less than half a tank
2. I'm close by a Costco or preferred gas station

So an average fill-up could be between 10-14 gal

Typically a 14-gallon fill up with Premium-only 92 octane at an average of $3.10 / gallon at Shell, Chevron or 76. About $43 to fill...

I fill up whenever I get close to 1/4 tank. More vigilant if a bad storm is expected. As close to full as practical.

I once got stuck in a traffic jam during a snow and ice storm coming home from work. 4 hours. 3/4 tank to go 23 miles. Good thing I started with a full tank.

Usually at about a half a tank. It keeps the fuel pump happy.

That's amazing. I pay 1.99 at Costco so 14 would be 27.86.

About $2.05 for Reg'lar at Speedway. But around here, about 66 cents of that is tax.

I drive until I get "low fuel" notifications and then fill up. The fill-up is usually around 14 gallons. Interestingly, however, I think the driver's manual says that the tank is actually 17 gallons. So when the car tells you it's low on fuel, it's actually lying to you. I guess it's Acura making sure people aren't getting stranded on the road, which is nice.

The worst part is that the fuel gauge is sort of arbitrary, as far as I can tell. Like if it reads "260 miles" on my remaining range and then I turn off the engine, sometimes you can turn it back on and it will read "230 miles." That's not bad, but if I'm at "28 miles" it can get pretty sketchy, particularly since I drive in place where there aren't a lot of gas stations around.

I once went down all the way to 0 miles of range left. When i finally fueled up, i pumped 15.9 gallons. There seems to be a little over a gallon that the RDX is hiding.

What kind of mpg are you getting? If your mpg is low, I think the low fuel light kicks in sooner (i.e. with more gas to spare).

I forget, I think it's like 21.3 or something, but I could be wrong. I do know that the "range remaining" is calculated off of that, so it can change as your mpg changes. Either way, the notification just kicks in at 30 miles no matter what, is my understanding.

Last year, when 93 was about 2.35, I went with it most of the time. Now, that it's over 3.00, I'll go back to 87.

Largest fill up was 16.0 gallons, but honestly, that may have been a time when I was running low and added a few gallons to get to a more familiar station. I see that smallest was 3.1 gallons. Average is 12.6 gallons

When it gets below half a tank, and we are at our favorite convenience store for coffee anyway, I’ll fill up. Usually around 10-11 gallons. I haven’t run it down to 0 (yet), but I did that many times in my previous '18 CR-V Touring AWD, drove another 5-6 miles - to get across a state line to cheaper gas, it’s an East Coast thing - and still had about 1.5 gallons in the tank. It seems to be a Honda/Acura thing to understate the remaining range.

I also traded an 18 CR-V Touring for my 19 RDX.

Every time I drive my wife's 20 CRV Touring, I think what a nice vehicle it is...then I drive my RDX and notice the difference. I have to like it, I made a "I will keep it time frame commitment" to my wife when I bought it................................................ ...............................Am I there yet? LOL

JB, you convinced me to trade up to the RDX. Thank you!

And I finally switched to leasing - I’ve had 19 cars over 51 years. I needed to stop serially kidding myself that I’d somehow keep THIS (latest) car forever. Ha ha.

You are welcome! Yep, I've had more cars. LOL I should have leased the RDX but I was concerned about miles I would accrue, as I tend to drive a lot. Who could have predicted the Pandemic and the resulting reduced miles? Would have been my first lease and I just wasn't comfortable with it.
There really isn't anything that I would rather have now anyway! At a similar price point!

I'm still buying but I think those times of getting attached to a car are gone. I was super attached to my first 2 cars (1998 Civic -- drove till it was totaled at 125k, 2003 328i -- drove till 211k), but for the last 3 cars (2014 328, 2015 328i, 2019 RDX) I have about as much passion as I do for rental cars.

It also has to do with financial ability. I HAD to keep my first cars forever, as I couldn't afford to replace them until they became too expensive to keep. Now, I just like a the new "stuff" thy come out with so often. I have a bit more passion than I do for rental cars, however!

Yow! Our Daughter who lives in LA told us about the $5.00/gal gas over there. 91 octane is close to $4.00 some place around here (Phoenix area).

I remember a few years ago when I put over $100 worth of diesel in our Ford F-250 in Montana. Quite a shock. And it only got about 10 mi/gal towing our fifth wheel.

Supposedly the high prices are temporary. Yeah, right.

The digital fuel gauge annoys me. It shows its full, then drops a little bit, then goes back to full, depending on your driving after filling up. I'm like which one is it?

Yeah I watch my gauge alot and sometimes for example, lets say it hits half a tank, then I park, and when I come back to the car and start it, its the next notch above half a tank. Then will drop again after I drive for a while.

I fill up when there’s not enough range left for the commute plus some safety margin, which I guess ends of being roughly 14-15 gallons. The odd thing about range is that it depends on if you’ve been on the highway or city streets. Run a short errand after work and 70 miles range becomes 55 (and it’s time to fill the tank). Run an errand at lunch, leave work with 70 miles range, and arrive home (23 miles later) with 72 miles range.
