I took my new RDX into service for the following:

• Add some features (Splash Guards, Welcome Lights, Darker RDX and SH-AWD emblems, Door handle protection). These all went well.
• Fix the pop/squeaking Panoramic Sunroof noise. This issue started after 300 miles

After 10 days, got it back on Saturday. They stated they found a small crack in the sunroof frame, order a new frame and installed it. Initially, it seemed fixed. But only after 1 day, the wife and I started hearing the noise again. It is less than before, but still there (and will probably get worst). To make things worst, the brakes are also now making a terrible noise. Only happens during hard braking, but does not sound good.

So back into the shop it goes (Scheduled for next Monday). I've had it for a 3 weeks now. 900 Miles on it. Will spend 2/3rd of it first month in the shop.

I know some people are having zero issues with their RDX. Clearly, I'm not one of the lucky ones.

 

Can you describe the noise you're experiencing? I hear a sunroof bump/pop noise every once in awhile, but usually only when my car is experiencing some body twist (e.g. I'm coming down a steep driveway at an angle).

 

The noise I hear will be one of the following

• If i drive over a bump, the sunroof will make a thud. As if the window raise 1/2 inch and then falls back down.
• When doing turns (body flex), I hear what sounds like rubber rubbing against rubber. As if the seals of the roof are rubbing against each other.

It was very minor as first (at 300 miles), but by 900 miles it had gotten much worse to the point even my back seat passengers were noticing and commenting on it.

 

I have the knocking sound as well and the dealer did not fix it the last time, because they thought it was coming from the suspension. Will need to bring it in again.
The squeaky noise, could be from the front suspensions as some of the members mentioned in the suspension noise thread. Acura has new parts to fix this, as one member claimed.
For the harsh brake noise, I have this (and the squeaking) and this only happens when the brakes are "cold". Acura has no fix for this, but some members replaced the pads with ceramic type and that seems to fix the issue. I have not done this myself.

I'm confident the squeak noise is coming from the sunroof. Although I have to admit that since I got the RDX back, I now only hear the thud noise. Squeak is gone. You are making me rethink if I need to take the RDX back in. If the brakes have no fix and they could not fix the thud noise, then what is the point.

They are both mild noises currently. I might have to wait until one or both become bad enough before the dealership would be able to address the issue.
