I see, so your basic argument is that since I can't name a bunch of Toyotas, somehow your incorrect argument about how $100 worth of savings on a car that induces you to buy the car makes sense? I might not know much about cars, but you clearly don't know much about marketing, psychology, or anything else by the same token.

Well, your lack of basic knowledge about one of the most popular and prominent car brands calls into question your overall knowledge about other car industry related topics. If I didn't know the difference between a Boeing 737 and an Airbus A380, you'd probably also call me out if I were to make some claim about how airplane queuing and seating works.

Ah, I guess I must not know too much about marketing. Guess I should go ask for a refund for my MBA then .

You should ask for a refund, since the university obviously failed at their job. Bragging about a degree when you're lacking in the ability to use the knowledge properly actually makes you look a lot worse, you know.

Eh, it's OK, at least I got mine . Where's yours ?

Yeah I know this makes me look like a dick, but hey, this is the internet . Better to get it all out online and be nice in person, that's my motto.

And hey, keep thinking you're right and that somehow you're smarter than everyone who bought that BMW, while deep down you wish you could have afforded it

See, you're still bragging about it. That's why your university is quite wealthy. They took advantage of you and here you are all thrilled about it.

Well, I seem to have gotten a pretty good ROI on it, so...

You on the other hand couldn't even figure out how to use a rearview mirror, so maybe you shouldn't be the one to talk...

To the OP: Sorry (kinda) for going off-topic. Back to the topic at hand, anyone can do an oil change on this car. It's a Honda motor after all, nothing crazy or special about the oil change process. As with almost all Hondas/Acuras, 0w-20 or 5w-20 works fine.

We all know German cars need proper maintenance or they become a bottomless money pit, and I'm sure BMW knows that as well. That would also explain why they've reduced their plan from 4 years to 3 years, as 3-year leases have started to become more popular than 4-year leases. No point in giving free maintenance to the longer-term owners when it's all about protecting the cars from the leasee's negligence.
LOL, he bought a BMW and even he knows that BMW owners can't figure out how to maintain their car and ruin it, which is why BMW needs to hold their hands.

You paid that much money to learn how to write "ROI"? Keep making those smart decisions, LOL.

They might not use their turn signals, and might not be able to turn a wrench, but they probably know how to set up their mirrors.

I guess they can't turn a wrench or use a turn signal or maintain their vehicle. But, yeah. This is working!

Naw, I paid that much money to be able to make a butt-ton of money. I know it's unbecoming to show off wealth, but hey, in this case, might as well flaunt it if you've got it. This is just one of my accounts.

I don't know what's worse, the fact that you think I'm impressed by your Vanguard portfolio or you have an MBA and don't realize that having $12 million doesn't tell me anything about the cost basis. Or it could be that you have $12 million and are still complaining about the cost of an oil change.

Why does cost basis matter? What, you think this is all on margin or something? Regardless, current value is current value. Doesn't matter if the cost basis is $1 or $1M. Maybe you should know what you're talking about before using big words you don't understand .

But if you're curious, total gain of that portfolio is $4,623,142.44. You can do the math yourself . Or better yet, start a new thread on how to use your calculator. I hear they're more complex than a mirror.

Wow, that's pretty impressive, how you were able to make a few million dollars with only a few million dollars. Your university must be proud.

That's weird, he left in a hurry. I would have thought that a multi-millionaire could make his own schedule.

Not sure if they're proud per se, but they've been pretty happy to receive donation checks (not literally, of course, only fools write a check; the rest of us donate securities).

Well, I've got nothing better to do right now on account of COVID and the fires, so I've got all the time in the world to waste on the internet .

If I don't end up with 5K posts by the end of this month I'm going to be disappointed.

I'll bet they're happy to continue to receive free money for no reason at all.

Paying it forward. They help me, I help them help the next crop of students. It's called...gratitude .

You must think Bill Gates is a moron for giving away so much money, right?

And no, I'm not saying that I'm like Bill Gates. Everyone knows I'm much smarter and better looking than him . Some say I resemble a young Brad Pitt with Channing Tatum abs.

That's fascinating. How are you helping the next crop of students? You mean you think your university's endowment fund is being used to help students? You sure are financially astute. The university has not put one over on you.

Why do you ask? Are students from Arizona State or Bama smarter than you financially?

You don't know? Then that was an odd question to ask, basically as if you were flailing away blindly, wouldn't you say?

Well, I didn't want to explicitly insult any of the students who went to those esteemed institutions, because as you can see, I'm all about class and manners. But now that I think about it, it would be mean spirited of me to lump them in with you, so I'll bite my tongue.

Anywho, there's some caviar and white truffles being served by my supermodel maid, so excuse me for a moment while I go enjoy culinary and anatomical opulence.

That last line of mine was made even worse by his smiley that he edited onto his post. Now I feel sort of guilty.

My son took his car to Jiffy Lube years ago. He recognized the worker-dudes as guys he went to school with and had dropped out, and he remembers their work ethic. Sure enough they way overfilled it, "forgot" the crush washer and had the nerve to try and show him how dirty the air filter was without even removing the original from the car. So no one in the family has oil changes done at other than the Honda or Acura dealer. Spend a few bucks to do it right or save a couple of dollars and risk the health of your vehicle.

Jiffy Lube? More like Jiffy Noobs.

I'll be here all week folks.

No seriously, I still have almost 2 months of my pat leave. I haven't gone anywhere since March when the shutdown started. I am quite literally slowly going insane being cooped up inside all the time, as you can see over the last 30 minutes.

Is this a desperate cry for help? Maybeeee. I am bored out of my mind? Definitely.

On a serious note, I think it would be wise for Acura corporate to pay for at least first service. Not saying it should be like BMW, but at least first one. Its a small thing, but nice. And its coming from me, that would DIY anyway, lol
