Finally joined the RDX Family

Last year, we got my wife a '20 RDX A Spec. But, that wasn't good enough. Late last week, I traded in my '18 Lexus GS350 F Sport for a '21 CPO RDX A Spec. Fell in love with the first Gen RDX, but was put off by the 2nd. Acura got it perfect with the 3G (minus some quality issues). Been looking for a while, and finally decided to pull the trigger. Picked it up this ;ast Tuesday.

Welcome to the RDX family! Your car in Apex Blue looks fantastic and wise choice getting it with SH-AWD. It's a fun and quite capable machine.

My fist RDX was a 1st generation. I kept that car for many years and was very happy with it.I’m now driving a 2020 3rd gen. The 3rd gen is much more fun to drive. Your new car looks great. I’m sure you’ll be very pleased.

I’m getting old and I forgot to mention that if you’re an audiophile read the 5.1 threads in the audio section. Try to get some 5.1 tracks on a usb drive and listen. There are some useful instructions about creating your own usb 5.1 drives in those threads. Enjoy.

I have to be honest, the Mark Levinson audio in my old Lexus, sounds better than the ELS…I know, this is subjective. I have the bass settings maxed, and yet I barely feel it. The ML in the Lexus was pretty powerful. Is there a way to get better bass from the RDX?

Interesting. I have a 2023 Aspec Advance...its probably the best stock sound system I have ever heard (coming from a 2012 TL with DVD-A--also amazing). And on a bassy song it rattles the whole car, but cleanly.

Im a bass addict as well and have found it very dependent on the song. Some artist up the bass more in their mixing and some tune it down. When I put on some German happy hardcore techno, Im afraid I will blow something with the amount of bass pumping!

The previous owner tinted them. I live in NY and purchased the car in NJ. Once my registration comes, I gotta figure out a way to remove it for the inspection or....

Interior is Ebony!!

Congrats on your purchase as well!!

Just the basic sound settings.
I don't even have the bass all the way cranked in the RDX, just a little past Mid. Ihave the speakers set to FULL I believe (so it goes equally to all speakers I believe).
You can try to pair your phone via bluetooth that MAY sound better than Android Auto (maybe, I could be imagining).
Not sure what music you like...but you can test out songs like Eminem's "Ass like that" or Metallica's "Don't Tread on Me" .
If you STILL can't hear defined, car rattling, CLEAN bass when you crank those up, you may want to take your car to the dealer. Maybe the sub is damaged somehow.

I typically listen to classic and progressive rock, so the bass isn't too predominant. I guess it varies on the song and its' production. It does sound good when listening to something more modern, like similar songs to what you mentioned. But, even with the music I listen to, it sounded much better with the Lexus Mark Levinson.

Newer songs tend to be produced better, sound better. But if you throw on a bassy song, at least in mine, you feel it. And this is with standard bitrate MP3's..I would imagine with FLAC it would REALLY sound good but I have not explored that.

I totally feel this! I had a first gen, my favorite car I've owned but the second gen was an extreme let down in so many ways. My brother currently has a 2017 Tech and I hate that thing. The 2019+ brought back some of that flavor of the 1G and then pumped the luxury up 10000% lol.

The 3rd gen is also much larger than the 1st gen.
1st Gen : 181″ L x 74″ W x 65″ H
3rd Gen: 187″ L x 75″ W x 66″ H
It has just as much room inside (seating wise at least) as my 2011 MDX.
That was a key selling point for me, roomy enough, but not boaty like the current MDX which is 198" long ! All aboard !

For me (early 20's and single) the 1G RDX was plenty big enough for my needs, but I do appreciate the extra space of the 3G because it means I won't outgrow it for many years to come. I had a 2G MDX and man that thing was so big and boaty on the outside but so tight and cramped on the inside. The seats were like a foot thick! Very comfortable for 4ish people but definitely not a great use of space.
