Wondering how common this is, if people do use them, any recommendations ?

tons of threads about dash cams, it's not exactly model specific. Dash cams are a minimal cost for mega peace of mind.. one saved accident or hit and run will pay for itself, it's really a no-brainer.. I can't imagine driving without one.

I might put this one in since it looks as OEM as possible

We have this Viofo brand camera and it seems to work okay. The only time I've had a reason to check the recordings was when a golf ball came bouncing down the road and hit us. It captured that quite well.
I had it installed at Best Buy as I didn't want to tackle the job.

The product page isn't 100% clear, but it looks like this installed via an in-line harness and not by running a wire all the way to the fuse box - is that correct?

I'm thinking the same thing. I had an adapter for my 1st gen from Dongar and mounted a camera behind the rear view mirror so it was out of sight and didn't require running wires anywhere. But, that company *still* doesn't have an adapter out for the 3rd gen RDX, and I'm looking for other solutions at this point.

I have the FITCAMX in my 21 Aspec. Looks and works great, was a 10 minute install it’s a simple in line harness. Pop the rear view mirror cover, unplug it, plug in the supplied splitter/harness, put it all back together.

Awesome, that's exactly what I was hoping for. I've already pulled it apart a while back and it looks like there's just enough space under there to squeeze in a harness and even a spot to slip the wire out for the cam.

yep. And you don’t need to slip the wire out, it comes with a new cover with the cam built in so it’s all contained and OEM looking.

I got the thinkware front and rear dash cam. Ran the wires through the loom at the tailgate keeping it clean and discreet as possible. Also purchased the thinkware hardwire kit and and installed that as well.

Ah, right. I was still thinking in terms of if the company I used before ever came out with an adapter. You sold me though - gonna grab this one and see how it goes.

That Fixcamx is nice! I have a Viofo A119 Mini 2 connected via USB it has all the tools to tuck it in the roof liner/A pillar. I just re-used the camera when it was connected to 4G TL via the Dongar Adapter. It is better to any any dash cam on your car for insurance claims.

Yeah, I had the dongar adapter in my 1G RDX, but we're 7 model years in on the 3G and still nothing from them. I got the Fitcamx and installed it over the weekend - 5 minute job and it looks very solid. The app is a little rudimentary, but the hardware seems nice and it has a very oem look once it's all installed.

Just installed the FitcamX in my 2022. Not terribly difficult but kind of crazy they don't have an install video. Fitting the sunroof controls back in was probably the most difficult.

How do you view recorded videos on the Fitcamx? Is it through an app, Bluetooth or flash card?

With the app via WiFi or the included memory card.

You shouldn't have to remove the sunroof controls at all. Just remove the cover behind the mirror, attach the harness to the plug that's right there, connect camera to harness, and re-assemble with the parts included in the camera box. It took all of 5 minutes for me. There may be another harness behind the sunroof control panel, but you don't need to use that one. But, if you already installed it that way it should still be fine.

I went with a dual cam Vantrue, love it, very clear and reliable. You want the Starvis 2 sensor, Vantrue also sells a polarizing filter to cut down on glare

Well damn. All I had to go by was some photos from a review on Amazon. Guess I did it the hard way.

For those who havw the fitcam, it looks interesting. Do you have the front and the back and do you have 4k ? Better question...do you NEED the back and do you NEED 4k ?

I went with just the front. In my opinion the back is not as important, as generally if someone hits you from behind then you already know who is at fault. I'm much more concerned about proving someone wrong who pulled right out in front of me. And yes on 4k - the added resolution can be make or break when it comes to license plate numbers or key details on a car or person.
