I have it on my 14 and 17 RDX, but they are a bit lower. At least these ones are in the middle and offer more protection. They do prevent the dings for sure. I would guess these would look good on the Aspec in black as the lower metal bezel is black.
Obviously a subjective thing, but I think they look terrible and completely contrast with the body lines. Our dealer installs these and wheel locks on every car in stock. I made them remove both items before delivery. I don’t like door dings, but those side moldings look way worse to me. On the wheel locks, im just not worried about getting my wheels stolen and those wheel locks are a pain to deal with.
As much as I like them, and I've had them on all of my previous RDX's, I think they look horrible on the 19 (no offense to those with them). The older models had them lower, where the bar is now on the door, and having two of them on the door is just too much (for me).
I want to stop the dings, but I just can't bring myself to stick these suckers on in the middle of the door.
My 1G Touaregs had a brilliant work around for this, the lower doors curved outward and VW placed a chrome bodyside molding that was embedded a couple mm within the curved out region and so if some imbecile hit your car with his door it would hit that curved area but wouldn't damage the paint or chrome piece.
In this case, I think it's butt ugly no offence and really ruins the lines. They should have come up with a more elegant option.
You can see what I'm talking about here and looking at the RDX doors (seeing as how they have and abs unpainted lower strip too), Acura could have done the same thing by curving out the abs portion a little bit.
The biggest issue with BSMs on any vehicle is their effectiveness depends a great deal on the design of whatever it is that hits you. If the high point of what hits you is the same as the height of the BSM they work fairly well otherwise it's a crap shoot. Every vehicle I've owned with BSMs, and that's been most of them, has eventually had some door or fender dings the moldings didn't prevent.
White A-Spec here. I ordered the white BSM version from dealer but cancelled prior to installation. At first I wanted them but after looking at pictures decided it was just too much going on on the sides. Wonder if the small running board option would help protect against dings? Some vehicles they stick out far enough to allow doors to hit them before anything else, but the RDX's are pretty small.
I was not a fan of them right away but I will be honest they grew on me after installing, I think for certain colors they look really nice. I noticed with the apex blue that when your about 30-40ft and beyond from the car they completely blend in to the the point you can’t see them at all, I think they look nice tho on my blue aspec. I installed myself, not bad at all if you take the time, they come with cardboard templates to line them up perfect, make sure you use iso alcohol to clean where they will be installed (you’ll be surprised how much dirt and oil you get off), I also picked up a laminate roller for installing laminate, has a rubber roller to push them on the car, the instructions said to have a roller. Took about 1.5 hours for both sides, I was really anal and took my time turned out great follow the instructions to a T tho
My car at an apartment so I need extra protection
Here are some pic pic I found from a dealer site

^^^looks great and great job. I, too, installed mine as well in my driveway. They aren't easy to see and I agree with your assessment above. Took me about an hour and I am extremely anal as well. I have done this before on multiple vehicles so maybe that helped my timing. Highly recommend if you are in an area where doors tend to get dinged. They truly do grow on you and are "invisible" at distances >25+ feet.
