Well, I drove a Volvo XC-60 T5 R-Design today and I'm sold. Pretty much loaded (all pkgs, 20" wheels, Polestar, etc), I got a fleet discount on top of other $ off and from just under $57k it comes to just over $51k and great lease rate (59% residual, $0.00061 MF). I pick it up in 2 days. My second choice was the RDX though.

It’s really amazing what Acura has achieved with 2019 RDX.
Before people would never compare RDX to Q5, X3 or GLC. Now they are cross shopping and aura is outselling the competitors.

I've been saying all along that this is the most class competitive Acura product in nearly 2 decades. It doesn't just sell on the merit of "reliability" or value alone. It sells because it's a damn well built vehicle that handles really well and looks GREAT doing it too!!! So kudos to them for getting their heads out of their asses and I'm very excited to see where this takes them!

It is amazing isn't it? That second generation RDX is absolutely laughable. The most tepid, beige, and plain white bread vehicle I've ever driven. Shame on them for even making it.
I've been saying all along that this is the most class competitive Acura product in nearly 2 decades. It doesn't just sell on the merit of "reliability" or value alone. It sells because it's a damn well built vehicle that handles really well and looks GREAT doing it too!!! So kudos to them for getting their heads out of their asses and I'm very excited to see where this takes them!

Right?! I'm just waiting for the Type-S models to come out before making a move! I'm lucky because it coincides with when I'm done uni so it's good timing!

yeah once u get in to midsize suv territory u need some kind of 6 cylinder powerplant, if acura is gunna use the 3.0l v6 for the type s seems like they could have simplified the rdx by using the front half of the mdx hybrid setup(3.0l v6 + electric motor) vs the current 2.0t, unless its too much for fwd or cant be paired with sh-awd

After putzing up and down the Tamiami for a month, and coming home to the beautiful Hudson valley, and its lovely two lane blacktop roads, over and around hill and dale, I reveled in the handling it gives, You can feel the SH-AWD whipping you around turns, and hoping that some cop is not seeing you doing 50 in a 30 without breaking a sweat.

I do dig the looks and interior of the 3G RDX though.
Having said that in the coming years I’d be looking at the next gen MDX due to need for more seats in my growing family. Glad to stay in the Acura family.

It may be laughable for you, but doesn’t mean it’s the same for everyone. I don’t care particularly for sport tuned cars and would rather have One with softer suspension and smoother and quiet engine and the 2G RDX fits perfectly with that.

But isn't it the "cheapest" option out of the list though? If someone is comparing the RDX to everything else on that list, they are going to "save" a few thousand.

Probably. However tho, QX quickly runs up in prices when you started to add options. By the time you are done, you might as well get the EU counterparts where as RDX has value and is or better driving machine than its competitors.

The Infiniti just doesn't appeal to people apparently. Not a luxury brand, has a CVT, new engine tech. Too many negatives.
I'm talking more about the X3, Q5, GLC, which are at the top. Comparing the RDX to them, the RDX has a pretty nice price advantage. Then you factor in that they all are about equal and it makes the RDX an easier choice if you want to save money. If money is not an issue (which if you are purchasing a luxury vehicle and staying within your means $5-10k might not bother a lot of people if they are actually getting a better product) people would probably pick the Audi, BMW, or Mercedes. I'd rather save the $5-10k lol

I wanted the X3 when I needed to replace my 535. It could not be had with all the driving aides of the RDX. The car needed both Drivers Assistance and Drivers Assistance plus, and there was only one car that had that (along with a load of other options) within 500 miles, and it was over 55K. Or 10 thou at least more than my RDX Tech.
The only thing it did better was the infotainment system, and for that price, I was miffed to have to make a yearly subscription payment for carplay. The RDX infotainment system is coming along, for me.

Isnt the jeep grand cherokee kinda of the king for 2 row midsize suvs? only a couple of inches bigger than the new rdx and crosses into premium territory, right around 50k if you're desperate for a dual pane pano and similiar spec'd to the rdx with saftey group or take 3-5k off w/w-out sunroof. The only thing that seems to be lacking is the iihs testing for top safety picks compared to new rdx or 2019 gle.

I believe with the new RDX followed by TLX and MDX. Acura will bounce back. Once again, the RDX sales numbers prove that and the 5 year old MDX design/infotainment still shines in that category.

Infiniti is struggling the same way as Acura in terms of brand. Also, the CVT transmission, new engine, reliability issues with Nissan vehicles in general and they tried to hard to make it "luxury" and forget the driving experience factor.
Back in 2002-2010ish Infiniti built performance cars, G, FX, EX and the QX. They took a complete different term and focused on luxury after the QX50. The issue is Infiniti is far from Lexus and it's a tough market to compete.

I am in the camp. I would have gone with X3 if the price were close but I couldn't justify paying the extra 5k or so just for the badge. I had a 528 and loved it before switching up to SUV. But both are manufactured in the US and X3 didn't drive that much better, in fact, I almost preferred RDX sh-awd.
Then came 2019 model where they made carplay a subscription, that just tipped the scale. Very obnoxious and I refuse to support such practice.

I don't necessary agree with you. If you get a RDX A-Spec and built a similar QX50, the price difference isn't huge. The issue with QX50 is more than just the price.

There is no like to like features options that you can match but the point is that you can actually build a package that tops out 10k more in msrp than RDX topline.

I walked into BMW and the sales team was awesome. Matter of fact, I just received a nice post card with a hand written note and Starbucks gift card in the mail yesterday from them. That stuff doesn't mean much to me, but the fact they even did it is a plus. We bought a 2017 RDX from the showroom floor, Acura barely threw in oil changes, let alone send us any sort of appreciation (could of just have been the dealer).
So anyways, back to the point of it being more than just a badge. I opted for the M340i because of the more aggressive styling, and I wanted the inline-6 and the other goodies that come with the M package, and as I mentioned before the one I bought was considered a demo with barely ever being driven. The exhaust note is absolutely amazing (even though BMW also produces exhaust notes through the speakers). IMO the BMW offers better driving experience, more luxury for sure and much much better tech. Just my two cents for people considering a SUV in this segment.

Yeah, I've gotten the same kind of lackluster service from Acura dealership in my area too. Part of me wonders if they themselves see Acura as a stepping stone to the other luxury brands, and that's why they don't invest in customer retention. The local Acura dealerships in my area are fairly stingy with loaners and require that it be returned with a full tank of gas. One of them even charges $30/day for a loaner! Every BMW/MB/Lexus dealership I've gone to has freely given out loaners, even for quick jobs like oil changes, and none of them required gas to be refilled.
