Auto Stop

I've had my '21 RDX for a year and a half now. The automatic stop doesn't work anymore. I don't use the car very much, especially in winter so it usually does not shut off sometimes during winter, but now it never shuts off. Could my battery be getting tired, has this happened to any of you? Only 13,000km on odometer.

I would say yes to your question. If the alternator must remain on to actively charge your battery, it may prevent auto start-stop from engaging. Bad battery? Bad charging system? Do you have access to a battery charger? One test may be to fully charge your battery and then see if Auto stop-start works again.

If you keep the cabin temperature on either high or low the auto stop won’t engage…

Another post that covers the parameters of when “idle stop is active”.

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-rdx-...orking-998456/

Lower the use more chance the battery is just a little low ( not a peak charge) ……..that will prevent idle stop and is very common.

Parameters for idle stop:

Auto Idle Stop does not activate when:
• The Auto Idle Stop OFF button is pressed.
• The driver’s seat belt is not fastened.
• The engine coolant temperature is low or high.
• The transmission fluid temperature is low or high.
• The vehicle comes to a stop again before the vehicle speed reaches 3 mph (5
km/h) after the engine starts.
• Stopped on a steep incline.
• The transmission is in a position other than (D.
• The engine is started with the hood open.
u Turn off the engine. Close the hood before you restart the engine to activate Auto Idle Stop.
• The battery charge is low.
• The internal temperature of the battery is 14°F (−10°C). or less.
• The climate control system is in use, and the outside temperature is below −4°F
(−20°C) or over 104°F (40°C).
• The climate control system is in use, and the temperature is set to the Hi or Lo.
• is ON (indicator on).
• The dynamic mode is changed to Snow or Sport+ mode.
• The vehicle is stopped by braking suddenly.
• The steering wheel is operated.
• Altitude is high.
• Theclimatecontrolsystemisinuse, andthereisasignific antdifferencebetween the set temperature and the actual interior temperature.
• The climate control system is in use, and humidity in the interior is high.

Or - you opened the hood while it was running, then auto-stop is disabled till you reverse that - look in the manual for it.

Mine quit working entirely, the battery took a dump without ANY warning about three weeks later, and was replaced under warranty after they did full diagnostic test on the charging system and battery..

I would get yours tested ASAP, and be sure to always carry a lithium battery jump start box.
