Acura wish list
If you could send a wish list to Acura... What would it be.
I have been driving a RDX for nine years now and I would wish for more towing capacity. Almost everyone beats the RDX in that category.

1) I'll second the infotainment, navigation, and software.
1a) True hybrid system to fix the HORRIFIC city fuel economy.
Honestly, I like the RDX quite a bit but the half-baked software is annoying. The fuel economy is not a concern for me on a daily basis because I'm mostly highway but when I have to do city driving, I can literally watch the gas gauge drop.

For me it would be sport hybrid option to around 300 HP. I think the more torque and better city mpg would be a great combination.
Second would be the touchpad/volume control of the MDX. Actually most of the MDX interior improvements would be nice. Also, reduce the prominence of the drive knob - it doesn’t bother me on a daily basis but I get irritated when every review of the RDX starts with “look at this big knob - you ought think it’s a volume control but it’s not!”

I think it’s in the right gear most of the time if you’re in the right drive mode, especially sport+. But an automatic can only respond to what it knows, not to what you predict, so sometimes it’s not where you might want it to be. For that, paddle shifters are the solution.

-Better build quality
-Option to turn off interior exhaust noise through the speakers completely
-Get rid of the center stack design (it's a crossover, only fools think this bullshit "cockpit" design is cool ... after living with it, it's asinine how much wasted space there is - usability & practicality should be paramount).
-Fix the headlights. I'm sick of people flashing me thinking I have my high beams on. My friend's Explorer ST's headlights are just as bright, light up more area and don't blind the shit out of every other driver on the road.

Include a damn spare tire in all models
Make the touch pad a touch pad/touch screen either/or option
Petty...but-make the brake lights LED. Jeez, it's 2021. Does even the cheapest car on the road still have lightbulbs?
Remove the engine auto shut off feature
Make the digital speed readout available to 2019-2021.
Include remote control engine start in all models
put better tires on the RDX, both 19's and 20.
Outsource the drab graphics on the infotainment to someone who can add some color/spark/design to the look. There are other colors besides blue/gray.

I guess I’m a fool then, haha. I think the center stack is brilliant. The pass-thru is a great use of space. Without it, there’s be a stupid cubby space between the shifter and the dash that wouldn’t hold much — just like every other crossover. Not only is the pass-thru much larger, but it also hides your junk. Who wants to see a pile of phone cords, masks, gum, and other knickknacks on display right in the middle of the car? I love being to hide all that crap under the shifter.
Lets leave it to everyone else to copy BMW. Acura, dont change.

1. Bring back the V6.
2. Ability to turn off the fake engine noise.
3. Don't reset things on start-up. Keep them the way I set them, esp. the auto idle stop.
4. Get rid of that damned touch pad. Give me back a knob like the gen 2 had. Or at least make it behave more like a computer touch pad.
5. Do something about the center console. The flying buttress thing is kinda dumb. And lose the big knob for the drive mode, it doesn't have to be that big. see #4. The gen 2 console was better.

As for the paddles, they're too slow and it's an awful lot of gears to flip through - going down from 7th to 2nd is no fun for daily driving. 5 taps that respond far too slow. Maybe if I were tracking it.
The RDX was one of the few cars I felt comfortable in because of that design.
I dont own RDX, but few times I had it as a loaner (one time almost for a week) the following were my beefs with it:
- crappy infotainment, and the ridiculously stupid trackpad, 2/3 screen split view making everything tiny - heck my 2006 TL had effecively bigger display for maps etc.
- fake engine noises - computer games are for that, not in a real car
- rear seatbelt anchors make rear seatbelts unformfortable, they should come out from the rear seats not, c-pillars
- not reclining rear seats
- V6 would be nice since 2.0T offers no MPG advantage
The 5 items I listed, the infotainment system is the only deal braker for me, everything else is managable, but $50k car should offer a decent infotainment system, and as it stands, what they offer is not even half decent.

Get rid of the fake engine noise
Get rid of the track pad - it really sucks
Improve the infotainment in general
multiple audio input - just like every other car manufacturer today!
Improve nav. Took a trip into uncharted territory last week, and it didn’t even tell me which direction to take at a major Highway split
Improve fuel mileage.

Go to a dual clutch setup. Remap the transmission programming. The RDX doesn’t start downshifting until under 10mph. So slowing from 30-40mph the car is in 6/7th gear still when rolling into an intersection. Hella lag for it to shift down cause always wants to keep the rpm below 2k where there’s no power. Always using the slow ass paddles so I don’t die trying to accelerate into traffic. Put the k20 in this instead of the k24. Fix the awful throttle lag. Remove the dumb mode knob and screen graphics when changing it. Rather a rotary knob to switch between, similar to modern 4wd setups etc. also remote start from factory. The app/sub is dumb.

- Digital speedometer. Perhaps an option within the multi-information display (between analog gauges).
- Option to remove split of nav/audio screen to one large screen.
- While the infotainment system is mediocre at best compared to other vehicles in it's class and even below, I have to say I like the trackpad. My wife's car is full touch screen and I find it's easy to touch the wrong button or inadvertently touch something while reaching for another button while the car is moving. I like anchoring my palm to the cushion using the trackpad. I find I can access the information screen accurately without distraction. This is just my opinion.
Really? I think the auto high beam feature is dogshit. They'll randomly turn on on the highway and blind the other side of traffic. I also can see oncoming headlights from around a bend or over a hill and I'll turn of the high beams off (though I rarely use them in any of my cars) prior to blinding the ever living shit out of an oncoming driver and completely fucking up their night vision for a few seconds, especially elderly drivers. The courtesy is not often reciprocated (even while flashing my high beams before cresting), and likely a lot to do with auto high beams lazily being used by default.
