Acura Upgrade Assurance program
Acura Upgrade Assurance program
Anyone ever had experience with Upgrade Assurance program before? I'm currently have 2020 Acura RDX A-Spec and feel bit small in the front and looking to upgrade 2020 MDX Tech AWD. I'm getting $44,208 price tag and OTD $45,893 with -$2000 Loyalty discount included. Is this a good deal?
Never heard of that program for Acura before. I did that with a Trek bicycle once, and never looked back.
In general, used car prices have been crushed recently. A brand new 2021 MDX will be released soon ( October? ), so I'm sure they are motivated to move 2020's currently on the lot. It's a solid vehicle, and it's definitely larger than 3rd-gen RDX.
Infotainment system is very different, for better or worse. 9-speed transmission was an issue early on, but they seem to have mostly ironed out the kinks. And the vehicle is less agile than RDX. Those are the things I would pay attention to when you are deciding if that vehicle is more suitable for your needs. The V6 engine is much less rowdy than the turbo 4 in RDX. It just goes, without a lot of fuss.
We have a 2014 MDX Tech ( 1st year of the current model, 6-speed trans, purchased new ), and I traded a 2016 Pilot Touring for my 2019 RDX Advance ( same platform as current MDX, with 9-speed trans ), so I'm pretty familiar with the differences.
I would say MDX is better than RDX as a family road trip vehicle, if that's a concern. Especially for adult-size offspring. Pilot was very good in that role.

And IMO short quirky actors are more fun than quirky transmissions, eh.
This is just a fancy name for trade-in, right? How much do they offer for your RDX? The MDX's price in itself seems ok but not great, considering RDX is getting $7-10k discount and 3G MDX is quite old, there might be room for further negotiation. Better do more research so you don't get ripped twice by the dealership.
