Acceleration during normal mode not smooth
Acceleration doesn't seem smooth all the time in normal mode. It's not slipping gears I don't think, it just seems ...inconsistent if that makes sense ?
When I put it in sport mode, its always the zippy/fast same level of acceleration. Has anyone else experienced this in normal mode ? I have a 2023 Aspec advanced. Only 9K.

My biggest complaint about mine ('21 Advance) is the shift programming. It feels like the transmissions team didn't speak to the engine team and just sent it.
Sport mode is better than comfort mode by a long shot, but still not ideal until it gets past third gear.

First of all let me say that I notice your are from PA and so am I (southeast corner). This past week of course has been 90+ degrees and on more than a few occasions I have observed shift points being held excessively long. Today for instance on essentially level ground at 45 mph, the tach read about 2200 RPM for a considerable distance. This was early in the trip, probably the first five miles although by the dash temp gauge at or near the “normal” point. That same road, opposite direction, the tach was at about 1800 RPM. As an FYI, I typically drive in Comfort or Normal mode.

my feelings exactly, the upshifts and downshifts in gears 1, 2, 3 are terribly unrefined, it's way too herky jerky

My '21 has these modes:
Snow
Comfort
Sport
Sport +
I don't like comfort mode, it's not very predictable in how it shifts and I like predictable. In stop and go traffic, it didn't hold onto the right gear and was jerky from time to time. I also don't like how light the steering wheel feels in comfort mode. Sport is the perfect balance of everything for me. The trans shifts exactly when I want to 99% of the time. I don't think I used Sport + after the first week I bought the car because I don't like that it disables 9th and 10th gear.

I feel the same way but with different modes since mine is a 2021.

As you said, Sport seems to be as close to ideal as I'm going to get. Still not perfectly tuned, but better than comfort.
The only time I use Sport+ is when I hit some winding backroads, and I'll never hit 9/10 on those roads anyway. I use it mainly for the firmer suspension settings, but all the other "tuned" items simply enhance the fun.

Try doing a throttle mapping reset (some call it ECU/TCU reset):
For dealing with sluggish 1-2-3 shift, I suggest changing driving style to use a little more throttle input in the low gears. This keeps the AT self-learn algorithm in a more responsive state.
- Turn the ignition to accessory mode.
- Press the gas pedal all the way down for 30 seconds. Then, release and turn ignition off.
