2020 A-Spec brake noise?
Our experience : noise appeared at 200 miles on way to dealer to get roof rails installed. They replaced pads. Noise persisted. 1,500 miles later and it’s much much better. I’ve done several “meaningful” stops over the course and it seems like the noise is getting less as they break in. We will continue to put miles on and see what it’s like at 10k miles. Then the dealer can decide what they want to do.
I got the second set of pads, the "latest" back in July also. For the most part they have behaved. One day, just once, I thought I might have heard a little noise but nothing after that. If this set makes noise I will go with "aftermarket" pads. My well versed service adviser said they had one car that gave them fits and that the owner finally did that and never had another issue.
Mine comes and goes based on how much i am driving it. I took it to the dealer, but in the couple of days that between when I made the appointment and drove it, the noise went away. It had been sitting for 2 weeks and i drove it this weekend and it sounded like an angry cat howling under medium braking.
Having the same problem with my 4 month old A-Spec. Dealer replaced the pads on all 4 wheels a few weeks ago which remedied the low speed squealing but the grinding from , the driver's front I think, when braking harder remains. The dealer says they will make it right when it goes in again next week. Hope so.
People need to understand that brakes take time to bed in and settle. Plus, I’d wager braking habit has a lot to do with it. Give them a few hard stops without activating the ABS and brake consistently when coming to a stop. Don’t drag your brakes once coming to a stop.
With how clean these wheels stay, I’d say they use a very low dust pad that may be susceptible to noise depending on how you drive.

At what point in ownership are people experiencing this brake noise?
I just bought mine this weekend and haven't noticed any noise yet. Also, I don't notice this "soft pedal feel" that some people complain about. The brake feels just like my previous car (BMW X1).

The soft pedal was only on early 2019s. Acura provided a fix via TSB and all are good now. The wonders or an electronic brake booster!
Wanted to chime in here and provide my 3200 mile/4-5 month battle with this brake howl. We’ve noticed that the noise reoccurs every 600-700 miles after replacing pads and rotors 4 times. Meaning, I noticed the miles when my car was new off the lot, at mile 600ish. New pads and rotors were put on the car. Noticed it again at mile 1200/1300. Same fix - pads and rotors. Noticed it again at 3000. Same fix, pads and rotors. This time around, Acura sent out a technician. The technician told the dealer to replace the pads and rotors again and to “burn” them the right way. The dealer replaced pads and rotors again at mile 3200 and to drive for 500 miles. This was as of this last Monday. So let’s assume this works and that they just need to have the proper burn in procedure, basically, this means that every time I get new brakes, I have to leave the car with my dealer for 500 miles.

So in 6 months since I bought this 2020 A-Spec it had had the steering wheel removed to address some plastic that was scraping on the wheel when you moved it, the folding mirror replaced as it would get hung up and not fold or unfold, the floor in the cargo area has had foam tape applied to address a rattle that then led to the sunroof frame getting replaced to address the same rattle. Not fixed. That makes 5 trips to the dealer for diagnostics and repairs and the sunroof or whatever is still rattling. And because of Covid rules they can't ride with me to have me point out the noise. So more visits to come and it hasn't even had it's first service yet.
So disappointed with this purchase. I have a 2103 CRV that has had zero issues. The brakes are certainly quieter than this Acura which cost me almost twice as much.
So my car is listed for sale if anyone wants a almost new Acura RDX.
Had my brakes done twice and still they squeak. I purchased some new rotors and pads from R1 Concepts and waiting for them to arrive this week. I’ll solve this one myself.

So the dealer had a second look at this. As I guess I expected they cannot fix the growing, grinding brake noise. The dealer test drove it and duplicated it. He then drove 2 new RDX's from their lot and duplicated it. Determined that the noise is common among RDX's and that it is a manufacturing issue that is not a hazard so it won't be repaired. I have also spoken with Acura Canada who confirm that as this happens in other new RDX's they do not intend to repair it. They aren't telling new buyers this when they test drive I bet.

The new RDX that the dealer tested, do you know if they are 2020 or 2021? Totally unacceptable that they can’t fix this problem. Someone should resign in their engineering department and call in a respectable brake manufacturer who would easily solve this.
I believe they were 2021 models. I agree it is unacceptable. It is more unbelievable that as a company they are ok with calling this a “characteristic “ of the vehicle.

Properly the only solution since Acura isn’t willing to do anything but I’m more likely to just get rid of it.

The new RDX attracted a lot of buyers to the Acura brand. Obviously, it may be exacerbated due to this being the internet, but I think in the long-run, the build quality and quality control issues this vehicle has had is actually going to hurt sales down the road. I'm seeing a lot of unsatisfied customers, mainly due to NVH and infotainment complaints.

I had break TSB applied 1 year ago, which was not the latest TSB, and breaks are fine, no noises.
The only thing that scares me is a limp mode, for most part all my issues been resolved with a dealer and I am overall happy with the car

Thankfully, I haven’t had any drivability issues with the vehicle. The car does drive fantastically and as an overall package, I like it very much. But, when on certain days and roadways, the new interior rattles like a 2000 Honda Civic that’s been baking out in the sun for 20yrs, it’s pretty upsetting that I dropped almost $50k on this vehicle after TTL.

I am thinking of getting a 2021 this month, I hate rattling noises, unacceptable if it's from a near 50K vehicle.
I think you are spot on. As soon as I can go car shopping without fear of contracting COVID I'm going to trade my 2016 RDX for something. As much as I like most everything about the Gen 3 I'd have a very hard time talking myself into buying one with all of its issues and reliability concerns. I'm single and have only one car so I need something that won't have to go back to the dealer all the time, especially since the closest dealer is 50 miles away.
Time for me to chime in. I bought a 2021 ASpec PMC almost three weeks ago. I only have 90 miles on it, but I noticed right from the beginning that it has soft brakes going forward, and the brakes make a weird noise and feel even softer when going in reverse. I still have my 2008 RDX with 150,000+ miles and never had a brake issue like this. I traded in a Jaguar F-Pace S-First Edition for the PMC (yes, I fell in love with the orange color, black roof and black accents). The brakes on my Jag were outstanding. Perfect modulation in traffic light swamped urban areas; brute force stops from high speeds on the interstate highway. The first time I backed up going only 5 mph in my 2021 ASPEC PMC, I said: WTF?
To izjamist: This brake thing is not a rattle; it is a groan like a sick dog.

I have the brake squeal as well, but I don't mind it. It goes away after the first stop or two. It's superficial. I guess different strokes. The brake noise doesn't bother me, but interior rattles are like nails on a chalkboard to me, and I've had to deal with several. Some I remedied on my own, others still remain. I need to have the sunroof rail replaced, but that'll be a fight with the dealer I'm sure.
