Bought 2020 AWD TECH last week with 16 miles on it. When I opened trunk last week all was fine - no sound. Yesterday when temp was around 50F I heard pop pop when opening trunk. Looks like plastik bumps on other plastik part. I dont see any scratches on top spoiler since I believe this is the issue.
Should I go back to dealership and there is any fix?
It's a very common issue. The tolerance is too close. If you look carefully at the center of the liftgate, you'll see it catches on the fixed roof portion and that's what causes the popping noise. I brought mine in and it was fixed in a few hours. They claimed the liftgate needed adjustment. Bring it in, the dealer likely knows about the issue already ... mine did (they quoted me a time before physically inspecting it - told me over the phone while making an appointment).
I had a similar problem with my 2019. Sound happened only once or twice. I explained what happened to the SA at the dealer and they took care of it. Apparently a known issue.
My wife's 2020 Advance had the same issue. The dealer was able to fix the issue in under 4 hours. They gave my wife a loaner vehicle while it was being serviced.
Update: did a double check today after a week of sub-zero (F) temperature and I noticed that there is paint damage and possibly warping on the top of the hatch. I’ll be taking it to the dealer this week to have a conversation...yeah, it bothers me...
