2020 RDX Advance + ASpec?

Look like Acura will be making ASpec + Advance models of the TLX and MDX. I recall people saying they wished the RDX had both packages. Your wish might be coming true.

A-Spec should have never been a trim level on it's own. It should be an optional appearance package available on Tech trims and above. I was rubbing my hands with glee on getting an Elite A-Spec here in Canada, but Acura decided to defecate on us instead. And to make things even more stupid, we have an Elite and Platinum Elite.

Yeah Acura seems a little bit lost. They are getting better but this almost seems like they are trying to fill up the NSX technicians shifts since the NSX isn't really selling haha. Instead of a Type S or releasing the redesign we are going to release a pointless change to production. I think they might just be trying to get some attention building up to the redesign.

I'm not sure why they are acting like this is a big deal. Acura has been (rightfully) offering the TLX with both Advance and A-Spec packages in Canada for a while now. I beleive the MDX also has that going in too.

This all day and every day! What the hell were they thinking with that stupid Elite and Platinum-Elite trim structure. Like WHY?!

I don't get why they don't let us pick and choose appearance options. Most of us would be willing to pay a bit of a premium to be able to, for example, choose the Advance/Elite model, then add the ASpec wheels/seat colors,, etc. ale-carte but no. They'd rather roll out specific models as-is

I for one would be super excited about it... i love the Aspec but not having the HUD, adjustable dampers, heated steering wheel/rear seats, and spare tire were deal breakers for me.

I actually do like the way the advance looks in some respects but I don’t want to pay ~$46k for an advance + $1k to have all the chrome exterior bits wrapped in black vinyl + $3k for the Shark grey Aspec wheels. I’d still be missing the rear diffuser and larger exhaust tips. I do prefer the natural wood and the regular white gauges of the Advance interior to the feux carbon and red gauges in apec.

My ideal spec would be:

2020 RDX Type S (3.5TT v6)
Fathom Blue
Espresso interior
Aspec exterior appearance package
Active exhaust

There was a time one would pay extra for chrome trims as it makes the car more luxurious. Now the trend is to blackout or chromeout.

I for one think chrome out look so much better and that's all about what I care about in APEC model. Give us option to chrome out in advance and I I'll be happy.

For me on a Honda or import product chrome = rice

its cheap and makes me think they should just put some spinner hubcaps a fart cannot and a crap win. Acura desperately needs to stay away from all the 00’s F&F cheese.

I guess it's an age/generation thing. I prefer chrome because it adds an air of elegance. Everyone is doing the black out look and I've never really taken to that look. I do like the pewter look on wheels but not the black out at all. Having the emblems and things black does look great on certain color combos though.

I am just getting old

I torally agree. I keep hearing the excuse that Acura is so small and thus it's easier and cheaper to offer less options, but because they are so small shouldn't it be EASIER to offer more options? Many of us would love to get the Elite/Advance model and add on the A-Spec package. It's not like they drastically changed anything as to make it physically difficult to do. It's just a appearance package!

It's not because you're old, it's because certain brands took chrome and went way overboard thus cheapening it (GM and Chrysler for example). I still like chrome, and I think many younger people like chrome too, what we don't like is superfluous amounts of chrome. For me that chrome lower door chrome pieces and especially the chrome scoops on the front lower bumper take it from tasteful to gaudy. Like those chrome handlebar mustaches on the RLX are distasteful.

Also I foresee a shift back towards chrome and away from gloss black and grey trims when people get sick of it. I already see many brands moving away from piano black interior trim to other options. It's only the last decadd that chrome has been going away IMO.

I think it will be a while before we see a RDX PMC version. There is plenty of milk left in the RDX teat so no need for Acura to resort to that.
