2019/2020 infotainment class action settlement

Just got this in an email
https://www.settlement-claims.com/in...%20Benefit.pdf

If approved, by default (unless we opt out), we get an extended warranty for 2 yr/24000 miles for:
The “Infotainment System Symptoms” covered under the Extended Warranty include the symptoms identified in: (1) Acura Service Bulletin 20-001 (center display unit stays on with the ignition turned to OFF and the door open, display switches between the Day Mode and Night Mode, the Drive Mode Not Available message appears, or the disclaimer is stuck on); and (2) Acura Service Bulletin 20-031 (popping/crackling from the speakers, blank display, no sound from the audio system, or network loss message).

From my reading by default if you do nothing you get the extended warranty. If you file a claim you can get in addition to that acuralink for 2 years and, if out of pocket expenses were incurred those can be reimbursed.

right, I am planning to select option to get 2 years of AcuraLink. My question is if they give you 2 years of acuralink, does it mean they will not extend you warranty? Do we have to chose between 2 years of acuralink vs 2 years of warranty extension? Or two are independent.

You get that in addition to the warranty.

This was a little confusing to me. I haven’t seen issues with ours yet but I got the letter. And to be honest I don’t have time to opt out or do anything with this letter. Will this come back to haunt me if we do nothing?

I don't think so. The only things you give up by not doing anything
- You can't sue Acura for this (you would need to opt out to retain that option).
- You can't recover any money spent already on fixing issues (must file claim).
- You won't get 2 years of free AcuraLink (must file claim).

The way I read the letter is that by doing nothing, your manufacturers warranty on the infotainment system is extended. Note that it is not automatically 24 months, but it can be based on mileage....."extends the Settlement Class Vehicles’ New Vehicle Limited Warranty for an additional 24 months / 24,000 miles (whichever comes first) to cover certain Infotainment System Symptoms". So it might terminate when your vehicle hits 74,000 miles which is the base 50,000 miles plus the extended 24,000 miles rather than the base 48 months plus 24 months extended or 72 months. It depends on how much you drive the vehicle. I
