No it’s in mph, works fine otherwise. Although I installed a windshield hud and use that for my speedo, so I rarely look at the gauges.

Yes I have the same issue periodically. Since Acura changed to radar instead of GPS sometime it gets the speed limit wrong.

Would be cool if the speed limit is true. I wonder if this issue can happen to all camera-based speed limit detection, or just Acura's implementation.

I had a 21 TLX Advance loaner a while back and it occasionally read 35 mph signs as 95 mph...

Do you have latest map updates or the ones that came with the car?
I dont think it has anything to do with GPS or radar, the speed limits are pulled from Navigation map I believe, so if there a bug in a map….

Brings to mind the fact we don't have an Autobahn in North America for the (what will this thing do) category!!!

Had also this appear, but not as high as that speed! So if you get a speeding ticket now, and you tell the police officer the car told you the wrong speed limit, you would still be 100% liable?

That would be unfortunate if you are in a new area and missed the speed sign visually somewhere, though probably the odds are low.. but I wouldn't be surprised if we see a thread 6 months from now titled, "My Acura gave me a speeding ticket!!"

There’s a setting in my RDX to use the navigation or radar for speed limit display

I assumed he has a 2022 RDX and the new cars use radar to detect speed. The option is in the menu to set it as navigation map also.

maybe current moving speed, the speed limit signs are either from
navigation maps or from visual recognition software to read signs.

I sincerely doubt that it uses anything other than map data for the speed limits. If anyone has any definitive info to the contrary, please post.

I agree. Radar can not detect speed limits unless it has visual recognition to read signs.

There you have it, the definitive answer from Acura although some manufacturers may use GPS/GIS.

It became available on the 2022 and up. It is the Acura watch icon. There is a dedicated button near the parking sensor on/ off switch now.

All of these electronic things have disclaimer that its advisory only and you have to check everything yourself. Zero chance of lawsuit.

the camera based limit is 2022 only. All previous years were based on gps/onboard map data.

Its a serious bug in imagine recognition software. It can check for reasonable number, such as 3 digits speed signs dont exist in US.

It’s not that smart if it’s showing a 100 mph speed limit.

Seriously, Acura would be better off getting their existing infotainment working correctly before introducing something with more glitches.

My 22 hit a stretch of road and it displayed 'Speed Limit 85'! There must be some sort of bug in the routine. I should have taken a picture, but it's another occurrence of a flaw

That was my thought, I'm surprised there is no speed limit ceiling as obviously 100mph does not exist in the US. I think only a few midwest states have 80mph and I think Texas has 1 or 2 sections of 85.

Just checked my 2019 owner's manual and it says:

Shows the current speed limit based on
information compiled through the navigation
system.

It can do 100, but why does the speedo go to 160? (Do pretty much all cars now?) I assume/guess that it cannot go 160, there are no speed limits close to that...about 80 is the top in the US? 160...really? It seems it would make more sense to just have 100 or so be the max, have larger numbers and symbols on the speedo for ease in reading (for my old man eyes) instead of cramming so much on the speedo to make it 0 - 160. Todays 2 cents

All to make the cars appear as if they are capable of going faster. I remember in the 70s when speedometers were only allowed to display up to 80 or 85.

I think that was back when the national speed limit was set to 55 for gas savings...correct? Today, that max in some state somewhere is 75 or 80 I think. If you were caught going 160 anywhere you would likely go to jail. Can't imagine why they design this gauge this way. Hell, why not make it 250 and really 'impress' people with what the car cannot do, and if it could it would result in your car getting impounded...woo-hoo. But....Just finished a trip to Disneyland (from Vegas). What a pleasurable car to drive....if it wasn't for the infotainment system issues on the 2019...it would be about the perfect vehicle. And, for whatever point... California does a considerably better job of 'striping' their roads than Nevada does. It was nice to actually see where the lanes were! One picky thing....there is only one USB port to connect into. We wanted to use Google Nav and connect our awesome USB 5.1 music sticks to enjoy, but you get one at a time. Oh well. A great time..then all four of us got Covid.....

Quick Reply: 100mph speed limit! Thanks Acura
