Display option
Thinking of getting a hybrid.
My wife has a 2018 Subaru outback limited that has an option to show her speed in a digital format and next to it is the posted speed limit. I think it gets the speed limit info from the Gps. Does Acura have this capability ? |
Nope!
The best Acura can offer is a digital number on the dash which shows the cruise set speed. |
If you use Android Auto with Google maps it will show the posted speed. Either way the outback comes with a CVT so the MDX Hybrid with the dual clutch is hands down the better vehicle.
|
Nope. The MDX in-dash display is not that advanced. Although the speed display is a cute option, personally I see no value. Certainly a nice to have, but not necessary. How's the MDX stack up against the latest from Subaru, the Ascent? If at all.
|
Carplay+Waze also shows posted speed limit and your current speed on the Acura navi screen.
|
On my wife's RLX, with the HUD display options, one option allows the posted speed to be displayed next to the actual speed on the windshield - I'll have to double-check. I typically use the hybrid status view be next to the actual car speed.
I know that this isn't pertinent to an MDX, but shows what Acura COULD do..... |
My 2018 RLX Sport Hybrid HUD does not have a Speed Limit Display option.

Thanks for the information. Very helpful.
I currently have a 2016 pilot EXL and am in the process of finding a bit nicer vehicle to replace it with. Don't get me wrong, I really like the pilot but I am at a time and place to get a nicer car. I have looked at and driven the Lexus 450h, Acura RDX, Acura Mdx and the MDX hybrid. I have also looked at the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Mazda Cx5 (great car) I am leaning towards the Acura Hybrid. I plan on buying the 2020 model year. I realize that the MDX will be redesigned in 20201, but I like the way the interior is layed out in the current generation, and current tech is enough for me. I am waiting to see what happens with the 2020s. Lexus has already rolled out that model year and they will be available this fall. |

Looks like I can get the posted speed from CarPlay, and the digital speed (which I like) from the mid. Thanks for the info.

Sort of on topic, I saw a commercial for the new Infinity QX50 tonight. And that prehistoric hunk of CVT had two screens.
