2017 Acura MDX Hybrid AWD Problem Notification
Hello,
This weekend we were driving our 2017 Acura MDX Advance when a message popped up on the dash saying that there was a problem with the AWD System. Looking @ the power distribution, we noticed that the batteries were no longer doing anything to the back tires (we were essentially driving a FWD only model @ this point). After a restart, the error message went away & everything went back to normal.
To be safe we still went to the dealership service dept who told us we had to bring it back when the error message was still there. Hopefully, this will not happen again.
Has this happened to anyone else? Any thoughts?
Thank you!

when troubleshooting; you want the condition to come back. so, restarting the car was the correct thing to do. if error doesnt come back, it was a one-off thing. it happens, as the car is one giant computer.
you'll want to try to replicate the same conditions to trigger the warning. if you cannot get it to malfunction, chalk to it up to a one off error. i know i know, not really confidence inspiring, but you have to treat it for what it is... one giant computer with wheels

I thought the system stored the error messages in the system? Have you posted in the RLX sh-sh-awd section to see if someone there had the same issue since they have about +3 years with the sh-sh-awd system.

Error Msg
The service dept said that since there was not a maintenance required light lit up on the dash, the computer did not store the error message so they could not perform a diagnostics.
Hopefully this will not happen again but I will post on the RLX forum to see if they have any ideas ...

I just responded on the RLX side too. Probably nothing if it does not happen again. If it does, take it in, but likely it is just a computer glitch. There are so many systems that have to talk to each other in these hybrid systems. Having two of them I can tell you from experience, I'm amazed there are not more issues. I have 50,000 on my RLX-Sport Hybrid which I adoringly call the Blackbird, and have enjoyed every second of it since purchased with 4 miles on it, two and a half years ago. Now with the MDX "Luxury Hybrid" in the stables, we have great electric horses to enjoy! I hope you continue to enjoy yours!

Update
We got that error message again this past weekend so we took it in to the dealership. They updated the software and said that should fix it. Fingers crossed ...

Hmmm
Well, the way it was presented to me made it sound like it was a known issue & this was the fix. Did not sound like a reinstallation.
Our salesman had commented that he knew of 2 others that have gotten the same message on their hybrids.
So far it has not returned ...............

Hello
I am happy to report that that error message has not returned since the dealership did the softtware update. Granted, I am not sure if the same would apply to a non-hybrid MDX.
Good Luck!

Brought the car to dealership this morning, they could read the error code C1843-62 logged, the code means LEFT DIFFERENTIAL FLUID PRESSURE DEVIATION. But they checked the fluid OK, no leak. and they tested the pressure 3 times, all OK. which means they could not find anything wrong. What they did is repalcing rear differential fluid and have me drive and monitor.
Maybe different error from TSX69's. #10

Burning Brakes
Had this happen to me yesterday on my '20 hybrid MDX as I was riding at highway speed. Only noticed a difference once I got into normal traffic and the hybrid mode would not engage at slow speed or when stopped. Got it home, restarted, and the message went away. Nothing to report to dealership if it does not show while there. I took a screen shot and will report to them when I take it in for routine service in about a month or so. Unless it comes back and stays on or something else happens out of the ordinary with it.

Did you find out anything? It just happened to me today. I parked the car, shut it off and restarted it and seems back to normal. I was driving fwd and back tires were not regenerating charge.
