$55 mth extra for 2019 MDX over 2018 lease?

Seems like a lot, but I guess my dealer really wants to unload his 2018’s and is offering me a great price. I’ve read about some of the updates for 2019, but do you think it’s worth the extra $2000+? Btw I’m turning in a 2016 MDX.

For a lease, I’d save the money and get the 2018.

for a purchase, I’d consider the 2019.

Thanks. We’re thinking the same.

I always prefer the newest model of anything but which trim level are you considering? If your looking for the advance trim I would purchase the 2019 for the minor upgrades with the adaptive shocks. If your looking at the base or tech then the 2018 will do fine.

If he were purchasing, then sure, the 2019 is the way to go... But that's not OP's intention... This is a LEASE.

OP didn't specify the lease term, but with Acura it's usually 36 months, so let's roll with that, for argument's sake.

$55 x 36 = $1,980

There is NOTHING that the 2019 has over the 2018 that is worth an extra TWO GRAND to rent for 3 years.

As a purchase, my opinion changes, as you can amortize the cost over a longer period of time, and you gain the benefit of one-model-year-newer for resale value purposes... But as a lease, the cheaper payment wins, and even adaptive suspension isn't worth an extra $1980 just to rent it for 3 years.

A) They don’t have any 2018 AWD Base left in color we want
B) Really not necessary for us. Live in SoCal and mostly used to take kids to school etc. I have an AWD if needed for a winter trip to mountains.
Btw I have noticed the shifting is much smoother in the 18 compared to our 16. Also the Apple CarPlay is a big upgrade and like the front end. And of course all the safety features. Seems like a great vehicle and a steal for just under $400 a mth. Might pick up today.

I lease and did pay the slight extra money for the 19. The interior has been upgraded and the transmission now starts in 2nd gear unless you have it in sport mode. Also has parking sensors added, along with start/stop. Also, the color choices on the 18 were very few. For that, I got the 19 and glad I did.
