Screw Acura, here's how to make "Tighten gas cap" msg go away right now!
I got the dreaded "tighten loose gas cap" msg.
Pulled over, shut MDX off, got out, removed gas cap, reinstalled gas cap til it clicked several times, got back in MDX and drove on, but msg was still displaying.
Pulled over and shut MDX completely off and on, but msg still there!
Drove on for 10 miles more and msg still there.
My wife then tells me the Acura manual says it "May take several days"for the msg to go out. WTF!?!
Trying not to lose my temper, I pull over, leave engine running, get out, remove gas cap, count to 10, reinstall gas cap till it clicks several times, get back in MDX, turn MDX completely off, start engine and watch the msg disappear.
Have a nice day!

2 caveats.
1. Of course, this will not work if something is really broken in your evaporative fuel system.
2. I'm not recommending anyone else try my solution as Acura would warn your vehicle may burst into flame even if you do not smoke!

The days-long warning message is there to irritate the driver, such that the driver will never forget to tighten the gas cap ever again.
