Question Remote Start on 2017 Base MDX

Hoping, or not hoping that someone is going through what I am right now. Traded in my TLX for a 2017 MDX Base with SHAWD. The only option I wanted was remote start. There was some confusion, but the dealer ended up selling me the vehicle and said I can bring my car back to have it installed(I was leaving for a business trip for a week). Brought the car back for service, hours later the service manager calls me and tells me the parts they have for the 2016 remote start will not work on the 17, and that the parts are actually not available yet. Does anyone have any experience with this?

It does happen when new cars come out basically its getting the brain of the remote start to adapt with the cars ecu software. They call it a blade which adapts to the immobilizer so you have that power light etc. I know that with the after market remote starts that's how it goes. Most likely you will get an aftermarket one through your dealer that is why.

Better off with aftermarket

We bought a 2015 MDX with the remote starter already installed. It was ridiculous. It almost never worked from inside a building which is why you want a remote start( we live in Minnesota). I had the dealer remove it and give me my money back then bought a good quality remote that has a half mile range instead of the 300 feet(best case) that the Acura remote quoted. We chose a compustar and have been very happy with it. You do have to restart the engine when you go to drive it which you wouldn't have to do with the factory version but that is worth it to actually have the car started in the first place. Unless they have radically improved the remote starter I recommend aftermarket.

IIRC Acura also did multiple tsb's for the old shitty remote starters and from the experience with my 2007 RDX with factory start, it did NOTHING.

I hate to say this, but the 2014+ 3G MDX is using a newer all-integrated factory remote start system, when compared to the 1G RDX.

The MDX fix seems to have done the job.

If going aftermarket I recommend Drone Mobile, this way for $50/yr you can lock, unlock, and start your car from anywhere with your phone. So even if you work in a basement or far from the garage it can be started. My wife loves hers I got her on her civic and honestly I still don't understand why Acura doesn't include it into the app.

No I realize it was different, I just meant historically the tsb's did nothing. But you are saying they worked so all good. Hope I am wrong.
