^^^^Agree . . . . Maybe it works, maybe not. But I don't see it working. Seemed too easy to not be public knowledge for those seeking to get CarPlay capability in older vehicles. Worth the try for $50 bucks though. The software update step to me is the rub.

This is going to be specific to Ford's Sync system w/SW update and the updated adapter. When Acura made the change you saw that the console buttons changed to add "Smartphone" as an option. That interface, along with updated SW, is what allows CarPlay to work in a factory-installed mode. What the Ford example showed is a much less intrusive upgrade approach that Ford took.

no it is not. The screen resolution on early third gen Acura MDX's sucks. Look at your backup camera sometime. It is the head unit quality that makes for a crappy image. A cheap Hyundai has a better image than my MDX. The Pathfinder I am renting right now looks like UHD compared to my MDX. Sorry I ever bought the thing.
