Our First Acura

Hello All,

This is a great forum.

We just purchased a 2011 CPO MDX Tech with 32.5K miles last Saturday! It is Palladium with Ebony interior. We also bought the Acura Care for 7Y/100K.

Took the car for road trip on Sunday. Love it. This is our first Acura.

The passenger side AC blower started making sound after day or two, taking to the dealer tomorrow to fix it.

Any tips for new owner?

Thanks.

Congrats on your new purchase.

First tip I have in mind: Read the owner's manual. Otherwise, any other questions you may have, please do a search to see if your query had been answered before...if not, post your question!

Congrats on getting a MDX-Tech.

Your 2011 MDX belongs to the 2G MDX forum, and you will get a lot more information there with the other fellow 2G MDX owners.

Congrats on the new MDX! I purchased my 11 MDX in Jan/14 and I already put +14,000 miles on her. I would make sure to read the owners manual and you can download it from the internet. I would make sure everything is working. I had minor issues like:

- replaced driver 1 key fob, took 2-3 clicks to lock/unlock doors
- front/rear door puddle lights inop, fixed
- rear seat cup holder was stuck close, replaced
- torn front endlink boot, replace both endlinks
- front passenger ADS shock knocking, back ordered
- 6AT reflash, didn't notice any problems before and drives the same after. Combined mpgs seems to higher.
- alignment at Firestone, drives and feels better on the hwy after alignment

I went ahead and changed the fluids (engine oil to syn Mobil 1, trans oil, sh-awd, transfer case, brake flush). I would wait to update your navi map because the most updated map usually comes out in the fall around Oct/Nov. If you update now, the map info will be from a year ago.

It is also getting harder to find certain OEM accessories. I would get anything you need now instead of waiting later.

Plan a road trip! This thing will eat up hwy miles with ease.

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to AZ! My dad had a noise on his MDX when the AC was on.. it ended up being leaves in the blower. Dealer tried to charge to remove the whole glove box and change blower. I just used a shop vac on the vents by the windsheild wiper and it removed the leaves. No more noise when ac is on.

Tips:
Tint the vehicle if it isn't already. My opinion is that it will make the interior last longer
Change oil regularly and rotate balance tires regularly as well.
Be careful with the backup cameras.. sometimes objects are further than they appear.

Thanks mrgold35. Love the ride. We went on a road trip day after we bought it, amazing! The family is happy.

We got mpg of about 23 or so using simple miles/gallons calculation.

I am planning on getting the All Weather Mats and Cargo mats. Maybe the running boards at later date. Thanks for the Nav heads-up. Was wondering if they just update the maps or the software as well?

I have started reading the manual, most of the functions / controls seems intuitive.

All of your above repairs except the fluids and firestone alignment were covered by Warranty?

Thanks gtinmia.

Talked with the dealer today and he said the same thing. Will be picking up the car today evening.

I guess regular oil change and tire rotation is must. I use to have backup camera in one of my previous rides, this one is bigger though, will remember your tip!

Everything was covered by the factory warranty except the fluid change and Firestone alignment. I went with OEM all weather mats for the front, 2nd row and tri-fold for the rear. Weathertech mat for the 3rd row. Mostly got the mats for NM sand and goat head stickers. Might go with weathertech if you have to deal with a lot of snow.

I'm currently on another road trip in Denver to watch a pre-season football game against Houston. The 6AT Reflash has up my mpgs to +22 when I used to see 18-19 on the same drive from ABQ.
