Or lease. We need a car. We like the 2020 MDX. I’m sure we will like the 2021 even more but we need a car in the next month or so and the 2021 most likely won’t be out until the fall.

Also, we plan on leasing so we would turn the car in in 3 years (although the lease deals are not great right now because the residual has been lowered).

Im in the same boat... mdx lease is up in 5 months, eligible for pull ahead in 2 months. Considering another mdx but man, my last lease was also the same body mdx. Lol

It may be cheaper. LOL.

To come out with everything you would need and want, I would recommend you buy a cheap car that won't cost you much to hold you over for a year or less. This may not work financially if you were saving that money for a down payment and only have that to spend.

On the other hand, the current A-Spec isn't bad really. Go drive a 2020 and see how you like it.

Remember, if you're leasing when the lease expires you can get a 2023 or something. The 2023 will probably have a few extra goodies that the 2021 won't have.

Coming from the sport hybrid, is the aspec, with the 9zf, a good move?

Don't know much about the Sport Hybrid. Never have been comfortable with electric cars. I have heard good things about it. I'm sure it's a blast to drive. IMO it probably wouldn't be a bad choice. Haven't heard of any major issues plaguing the design since the RLX Sport Hybrid came out in 2013.

The ZF-9 isn't the best and it isn't for everyone. I didn't hate it too much when I drove the 2018 Odyssey with it. Some say it feels weird or like a transmission that isn't working correctly when compared to other transmissions. Personally, I guess I noticed it was a little annoying but the engine was all I was paying attention to!

The J35 engine is such a beast!

I'm in the same frame of mind. Our '17 MDX lease is up in July and we are going to get a 2020 MDX. Here in NJ, the lease prices are very reasonable as the dealers are getting rid of 2020 inventory. We wanted a 2020 MDX A-Spec Pearl White/Red Interior but all the inventory for our dealer is gone. I'm going to inquire about a 2020 Pearl White/Parchment Sport Hybrid which is actually cheaper than the A-Spec.

We wanted to wait for the 2021 MDX but the model will have high demand and we don't anticipate many great lease or buy deals this fall.

Add me to the list of people in the same boat. My lease expires in four months and I currently drive a 2017 Hybrid that we have enjoyed for 29,000 miles. With the factory shut down for two months there are not many available now-certainly hard to find color combination you may prefer. I also leased a six speed 2015 MDX so for me this will also be the third car of the same body style. There have been incremental improvements over the years so I am happy to lease another one now. I took an extensive test drive of the 9 speed last week and found it to be fine so will likely lease one. Coming from the Hybrid I think it will feel like a different drive so that is also a factor. The performance of the Hybrid is a blast but the gasoline model is certainly no slouch. The residuals have stayed constant for the last three months and Acura increased the loyalty incentive to $2,000 on June 2. I find the deals now also good since production of the 2020's is nearing the end. As stated above the 2021's will command top dollar for awhile after introduction and I also do not want to be a beta tester in the first model year of a completely new design. In three years I will likely lease the new model.

Do you guys mind if I ask what you’re seeing for lease deals now for 36 months, no money down except the initial stuff that’s required? We are not a current Acura owner, so we aren’t eligible for loyalty, but we are coming off an Enclave so there is a conquest rebate (at least there was). I’m seeing lease prices all over the place, from as low as mid-$500s/month to as high as $615/month on a 15k/year lease. It just doesn’t seem like dealers are all that motivated right now, yet they have tons of cars on their lots.

I think easiest thing for you to do is use a lease calculator and plug in information and you will get a ballpark of what to shoot for (knowing you will likely have to negotiate to get close to what you hope to pay). The residual on all SH-AWD models for 15,000 miles a year is 51% so if for instance you are looking at the Tech model the MSRP of $52,525 would be multiplied by the residual value. You then plug in the interest rate in the lease (currently .00069 which is 1.656), your sales tax rate and the selling price you negotiate. It is recommended that you only pay DMV and Doc Fee in cash and roll sales tax and $595 acquisition fee into the lease. My sales tax rate is 6.35 and my quick calculation results in an aggressive price of roughly $560 so your mid $500's is possible-likely near end of the month. Not sure they have a conquest rebate going on now-if not then the price will be approximately $30 more per month.

We just went with a 2020 MDX Sport Hybrid Tech White Pearl/Parchment here in NJ. $1500 down includes the 1st month lease payment and other fees... 15,000 miles/year for $539/month. With COVID-19 out there are no real negotiations and with the stock dwindling there is some supply/demand issues + good deals going on. This is our 3rd MDX and 2nd in the current body style. At least we get CarPlay which our 2017 didn't have..

Have you looked at or considered a Kia Teliruide or the Hyundai twin? Bought a 2018 Tech two years ago August and my repaie order binder is now an inch thich and growing. All of it electronics. Mechanically its been fine, but whoever Honda/Acura is getting stuff from has to be the worst. You never want to get a first year anything. Just too many bugs mfgs let the buying public find for them.

It was smart for me:

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-mdx-...s-paid-987322/

It is a beautiful color combination and the Berlina black wheels really look good. Very happy with the deal and the car, but I will give you I was not concerned about getting a 2021.

Good luck to you folks looking for a 2021

IMO if your coming from a 2014-2016 MDX and upgrade to a 2020 Advance, Hybrid or Aspec model then it makes sense.

I've always had good luck with USAA or Costco car buying services when buying new (I never leased because I put +22,000 miles per year). I also purchased 3 of my Acura used w/ and w/o CPO with 4/50,000 basic warranty still available. I was also willing to travel 5-18 hours for a good deal and color combo I wanted (purchased my CPO RLX hybrid with 7,200 miles from Sacramento from ABQ for $21,000 less than a 2020 RLX MSRP). A used 2018-2019 MDX would come probably come out around the same monthly payments compared to a 3 year lease on a new 2020 MDX. That would give you 3 years of similar monthly payments whenever you are ready to lease again. It also gives time for Acura to get back to normal production and work out any bugs with the 4th Gen MDX.

Why is it called a "lease"? Why not call it what it really is, a long term rental! Lease was thought up by the auto industry to put people into much more expensive cars than they could really afford, thus driving up their short term profits. Acuras might be nice, but so are a lot of other cars in the same class for a lot less money. Yea, I succomed and bought an Acura. Whsi I had waited now and bought some others instead.

I've been thinking this over for quite a bit. I finally decided to pull the trigger on a 2020 Sport Hybrid Advance. I'm currently in a 2017 Sport Hybrid Advance with 57k miles. They've been trouble free miles. Incentives from Acura are totaling about $11k off of sticker. Plus they're giving me fair value for my trade. I couldn't pass that up. Then, I'll end up buying the mid model refresh when it comes out. It'll be nice to have CarPlay. This will be my third MDX in the 3rd gen. (2015, 2017, 2020).

You will like your 2020 MDX with Carplay, updated touch screen resolution and features, more wood trim, metal trim around seat controls. I'm still a little bummed Acura didn't add the HUD to the Adv MDX.

In in a similar boat here. I had a 2015, then a 2017 which I just traded for a 2020 today. (all Tech Pkgs) While I already had a taste of the Apple CarPlay interface and improved screen resolution from my 19 TLX, I do like that the Tech package now has a couple of features that used to be Advanced only, such as Idle Stop, perforated leather (albeit not Milano) and genuine wood trim, with my wife pointing out to me that she now has lumbar support on the passenger side.

That said, this lease seems to be pretty well aligned to when the 4G should be in its second year with most (if not all) of the kinks worked out....maybe I'll even get a Type S model.
