New Tire Suggestions for '14 MDX TECH?
New Tire Suggestions for '14 MDX TECH?
Hey guys -
I have about 25k miles on my factory tires (Continental LX Sport) on my '14 MDX.
I went to Discount Tire and they said I'll probably need to replace them soon (which I was a bit disappointing after only 25k miles).
Has anyone replaced their tires and if so, what would you recommend and how much did you pay?
Thanks for any recommendations in advance!!

do you regularly rotate your tires?
I'm assuming so, since you went to Discount.
25-30k miles is about on average an all season tire can see. you made it!
other than the wear, did you like the Continental LX Sports?

Yeah I thought they were fine...I live in Colorado and the MDX did great in snow. New Continental's are pretty expensive so I was curious what other people went with.
tires are subjective and full of compromises!
theres not one tire that can do it all!
and then you will get mixed reviews from people, because it is subjective.
my recommendation is if you liked the Continentals, keep buying them.
if price is a concern, I'd get the cheapest comparable tire to the Continental LX Sports...

if you live in CO and deal with snow a good portion of your year, may I suggest the Toyo Celsius CUV? I've been researching them here in CA for a long while and can't get them in this state (as we don't have the snow to warrant any pre-orders) - however it's a 60k rated all season (3peak rated!) tire... i've been wanting that tire because I drive anywhere on a whim. FWIW I ended up with some BFG All Terrain K02 tires, not the usual choice.
agreed with this viewpoint - tires stick/turn/ride/make noise differently to everyone's ear, its a hard segment to buy in because ratings are so subjective. That said, make a checklist of what matters and stick to it - if cost is the decider, only look for tires in your price range and go from there - if it's performance, start there etc...

I live in NM with a lot of trips to CO year round (Pagosa, Colo Sprgs, AFA, Denver, Steamboat). I have the older Conti DWS on my 11 MDX and I have about 45,000 miles on them and the tires still show DWS on the tread. They do a good job with CO drivers and road conditions. It seems the 75 mph speed limit in CO is just a suggestions because 80 mph puts you in the slow lane getting passed by almost everyone (especially between Colo Sprgs and Denver). I always do the road force balance when first purchased and balance/rotation/cross rotation every oil change with Discount. Saves me some $$$ for A/B services with Acura having 3 vehicles. I find the Conti DWS work best for me with below freezing temps in the morning and +50 degree afternoons, freak rain/snow storms that can happen 5 miles down the road, maintaining a smooth ride at +80 mph, braking/emergency braking, all weather handling at any speed, and the changing road conditions as you climb in elevation (bone dry and 55 degrees in Denver and 6 inches of snow/slush at I-70 Eisenhower pass at 11,000 feet and back to bone dry in Steamboat).
Planning on changing to the newer Conti DWS 06 maybe around Nov/Dec.
