New buyers. Why didn't you get the hybrid?
hybrids are a slow seller and very rare finding certain color/package combos. Out of my 2 local dealers, 1 has zero hybrids, and the other only has 2 advanced models. i need to drive 70+ miles and a state away to find a dealer that has a modern steel tech hybrid. I'm wondering if acura isn't making a bunch because there is a big change coming with the 2020? What scared you away from the hybrid? Just the price discount?

the word hybrid throws everyone off. it doesnt sip gas like the name implies...rather, it takes SHAWD and acceleration to the NEXT LEVEL.
The People who are buying a 7 seater SUV are not looking for this.
Further cemented is the fact that BMW bosses said there isnt going to be an M version of the X7, because buyers in this segment are not looking for power.

one issue may be that you cannot tow with the hybrid
the other is price. Sticker Price isn't much more, but actual price paid is

I bought the hybrid specifically for the performance!

For me it was primarily the lack of towing ability, in addition to I like the wheels on the 19 Advance better than on the hybrid. Plus entertainment isn't available on the hybrid.
Secondarily (although not a primary driver in my decision) is the hit on gas mileage with any hybrid / electric vehicle in cold weather as I live in MN.

Exactly a year ago, I had my heart set on a hybrid advance version but the dealers here would not discount it more than a token 500-1000 if that. The regular advance was on the other hand almost 6k off sticker to the point it was significantly cheaper than a hybrid tech. Midwest dealers would discount it about 3500 if you pushed but with shipping to CA, it was almost back to sticker. Thus I gave in and just got thr regular advance.

Those of us who drive the Hybrid know how great it is to enjoy the performance it delivers.
I am leasing and will re-up with a new one in 2 years for sure.

For me the improvement in fuel economy (outside of high speed highway mileage and exluding the sizeable drop in the winter in mid west) was the main reason I considered the hybrid (now that the 19 advance also gets active dampers). The other performance gains such as different AWD and added acceleration I wouldn't have actively sought after considering from my perspective the 3.5 has more than enough get up and go to either get me into or out of trouble when needed

MDX Hybrids are hard to come by. When I was looking for one, all Hybrid models are immediately taken, the inventory doesn't last long. I got lucky and was able to get it; I was watching the inventory of dealerships, and I got mine 75 miles away from where I live. Performance is awesome, the shifting is buttery smooth, and the gas mileage is way better than my Odyssey.

shifting is amazing with the dual clutch transmission, but that is the reason you cannot tow. And the ICE off//on is barely noticeable, in fact often not noticeable

The revised 9 speed in the 2019 gas version is much smoother then previously, I don't notice it ever shifting gears and/or hunting for gears. Much improved vs prior years, I believe they've addressed most of the complaints about the 9 speed with their latest updates for 2019 (both Pilot and MDX)

additional maintenance? Hybrid gets rid of the complex AWD for non hybrid. Plus, brakes will last at least twice as long if not longer with hybrid
increase in mpg in city driving is significant

I went from a rx450h to mdx, in 2017.. was waiting for hybrid which came out 1.5 year later.. i love my rx450h.. 35mpg highway, but i can't fit the family without the 3rd row.. so had no choice

For me the issues were no towing, in cold climate (like mn) in winter city mileage takes a big hit, highway mpg is about the same or slightly worse than 3.5, I like the 3.5 advance wheels better for 2019, plus hybrid doesn't offer entertainment package

The new '19 Advance wheels look really nice. They are slightly wider at 8.5 compared to 8 for the hybrid so you get 265/45 tires instead of 245/50.

I needed a newer vehicle to add to my fleet because I have +430,000 miles between my three Acura. They all run perfectly and I could go +500,000 with only minor repair issues. It was the performance of the sh-sh-awd, comfort, 25-30 mpgs, and 6-7 seat space I liked over the +19 RDX. It was impossible to find an used/CPO +18 sh-sh-awd in Fathom blue (wanted carplay and the 1st year depreciation hit already applied). Wait period for new sh-sh-awd in Fathom Blue+Adv was 2-4 months and up to 1-3 states away. Decided to go for new because I can get the exact color combo+Adv.
My biggest concern was when the 4th Gen was going to be released in 2020 or 2021. On top of that, would they make a 4th gen sh-sh-awd available in 2020/2021 or wait until the 4th Gen MMC in 2023/2024 for the sh-sh-awd. It is a possibility they could stop making sh-sh-awd in 2019 and it could be another 3-4 years before it comes back. Gas savings alone will pay the $1500 price of the sh-sh-awd system over 100,000 miles compared to driving my 11 MDX.

With 19 Advance getting Active Dampers and body color matched lower trim just like the Hybrid they closed the gap some in that regard as well

I'm a new Dad that was forced to buy and drive a SUV while my wife drive our 4 door $50k sports car. Driving dynamics was #1 on my list, I can care less for a outdated 2014 interior/infotaiment and a decent looking exterior design. The Hybrid has a dual clutch, 3 sport hybrid motors, and adaptive shocks. There was no way I was going to purchase a regular MDX. The dual clutch alone sold me! If haven't tried it, th3 take off performance in sport + mode is mind boggling fast for a Japanese SUV. On the other hand I wanted to wait a extra 4 months for the Aspec version but I thought about and realized you can always add on the exterior cosmetics but you can never had on the hybrid motors, dual clutch and adaptive shocks. Go the extra mile to find a Hybrid IMO.

No desire for the added complexity or price for a vehicle that serves as the people hauler/road trip car. I've got other toys to have fun with.
