Need help..14 mdx problem no fault codes
Have a 2014 MDX with Tech package and has 8200 miles. This is my wife's car and she is 7 months pregnant and I'm seriously concerned that she is unsafe right now in this vehicle so she's not driving untill we get this fixed.
3 days ago, we were pulling out of a restaurant and the car made a buzzing noise in the driver side of the dash and at the same time it felt like the ABS system was applying a brake on the driver side steer axle. It only happened for half a second or so and no fault code occurred. We drove another 10 miles and it did it again. Keep in mind this never has happened in the first 8000miles. We called the dealership and made an appointment for service. Over the next 3 days before the service appointment this happened at least 50 times or more. It happens more often at lower speeds (35-55mph) but it did happen several times going 70-80 mph on the interstate. The dealership test drives the vehicle and (unfortunately) it doesn't happen for them so they basically say they can't fix it cause they don't know whats wrong. The service manager says he thinks it is the sensor that controls the cylinder cutout and that could cause the steering to tighten up. I explained to him that i could feel the car trying to pull to the left for a second before it stops but he was confident it didn't have an abs issue and basically told my wife to go home. I called Acura client relations and they said someone would call me back once they reviewed the issue but i'm seriously concerned about the safety of the vehicle. Right now it's only doing it for a second before it goes away, but what if it did for 5 seconds or 10 seconds or the front brakes locked up on my wife!!!???
Has anyone ever had this happen or familiar with something that could be causing this?? It truly feels like a car thats sliding on ice trying to automatically apply brakes to straighten the car back out, but it only happens for a second and then its back to normal and there is a buzzing vibration sound in the dash when it happens. This is my first Acura and my first time even visiting this website. Please help if you can

I'm guessing no one has run into this issue. The vehicle is still doing this but it is not affecting the steering all the time like it was before. The dealer and Acura customer relations have not done anything yet to resolve the issue. If you're buying a new Acura, you might want to ask about the noises that the engine and sensors make when changing from 6 cylinders to 4 and vice versa. It is very annoying and didn't do it for 7500 miles or better but they say there is no fix for it. Had I known this, we would've purchased a different vehicle. They say you get used to it but it does it ALL THE TIME NOW! Very frustrated.

2016 Acura TLX
Take it to another dealer and have them look at it. Maybe have them drive a new MDX and compare it to yours.

Burning Brakes
Agree. Take it to the dealer and show them the problem. Demand a loaner until it's fixed.

I don't know the particulars regarding the new cylinder deactivation feature, but it should never underdrive the power steering causing it to tighten up / pull. This sounds like hokey.
Your post is a bit ambiguous, but are you experiencing this while applying brakes, cruising at a constant speed or accelerating? Any lights flash on the dash?
My first thought would be to check the speed sensors, then follow the flow regarding components that modulate traction control / braking. Have you guys hit any big potholes or rubbed any curbs recently?
I wouldn't worry about a lockup situation occurring. I would definitely have the dealership attend to this issue and get it resolved asap.

The 2014 MDX is using the new "Electric Power Steering", and not the old fashion hydraulic type. So there is nothing to underdrive or overdrive the steering system, by the running engine.

Electric.. fuck. Well then it definitely isn't related.

That vibration or buzzing on the steering is perfectly normal and is common on all 2014 mdx's... Basically there are a lot of concerns for this problem and has to do with the abs and steering assist functionality.. There may be an update soon to lessen this vibration or problem..

Have you tried switching off Adaptive Cruise Control & Lane assist?

The Tech trim model doesn't have "adaptive cruise control', only the Advance trim has.
