Is MDX manly enough
I see a lot of you guys making posts about getting those MDX but are you getting those as your DD or your wife's vehicle?
Looking to upgrade from my 06 TL 6spd to a lux family crossover and have been looking at new MDXs but not sure if manly enough

justnspace: who's driving your MDX?
I need a vehicle with more room, and 3 row of seats to transport the fam, tow a utility or a jetski trailer. Guess can't do that with a TL, so it is either a crossover or a minivan. Not trying to show off the manliness but rather go with a choice that is manly enough, if it makes sense.

lost your man card right there.
and No, I dont own a MDX, but wouldnt mind an MDX. hell, I drive a '12 Kia Sportage.
Something is wrong with you if that's how you judge cars. lol by how manly it looks.
You should choose a car by how you're going to use it.
So, if you're going to be doing manly stuff with your vehicle, you might need a manly vehicle.

Sure. With some big-ass wheels, low-profile tires, and lowering springs, the 4G MDX will look like it is overloading with testosterone.

And yes - my X is my daily winter driver. In the summer it's a Trilogy Marauder or CVO Road King - Manly enough?

First I ride a motorcycle as my main transportation and do over 20,000 miles a year. I live in Pa. and ride all year round,in all kinds of weather as long as the temp is above freezing.
Now I bought the MDX for me, for those times when it is just too dangerous to ride the mc. If you are worried about the manly factor than I suggest you buy something else because you really don't have a manly factor to worry about.

The MDX is my primary vehicle. I chose it and I love it!
I don't think that it is the "toughest or manliest" looking vehicle, there are aspects that make me think minivan, but it is not! Looking at the entire segment, it ticks all the boxes. It will tow the race car to the track, the boat to the lake, it will carry the family (4) in luxury, it is quite quick, it has all the tech you could want, the "Honda" engines are exquisitly smooth (and should be very reliable), you have 3rd row when needed, the jewel eyes lights are simply amazing at night, and for a SUV it is fun to drive.
What vehicle will tick all of those boxes?
There are more luxurious vehicles, some that will tow more, some that have more brand cachet, etc. but not all together - not in this price range (Mercedes AMG GL?)
So if you would rather have an external package that looks more manly, you will be giving up a lot of car.
I am making the assumption that this is YOUR taste - because everyone will have a different view of manly!
You will not get more manly in the eyes of some that a lifted Ram HD "rolling coal" is that where you wanna go?

Several months ago we were considering another MDX for my wife as her daily driver/ family hauler. However, I would have had no problem driving it everyday... And would DEFINITELY prefer it to any minivan..

Manly enough is the question,we'll I did have friend of mine ask me why I bought Acura mdx 2014 he says it's a soccer moms truck. So I put bigger tires 265-50-19 big difference, stock tires way too skinny, still drives awesome with bigger tires. Sport running boards not as bulkie as advanced running boards they look great, but I still feel I should of bought x5

'12-13 E70 3row seat or '14 slightly used MDX SH-AWD with Tech
Acura has fewer options and does not feel as luxurious for the $ although the perception of quality and years long reliability

I'm guessing you need a family vehicle. Why are you worried about if it's manly or not. Do you like how it looks? Is it reliable? What are the main things you are looking for besides it looking manly? The MDX is a great SUV, I'm actually getting one myself early next year.

You may want to reread the post - I think I clearly explained that have a family of 4, I am a dad with two kids, with occasional duty to haul more ppl/cargo, and a need to tow a trailer.
There is nothing weird with my original question. Very surprised of the reaction to my post, as if many of the guys that gotten MDXs for themselves are feeling sort of remorse for driving a roomy lux crossover.

The only Mod I'm considering is having the stock rims PVD'd. I think they could use a bit more "character"

its just that no one thinks like that.
vehicles are tools.
there are different tools for different purposes.
a vehicle is also an emotional purchase.
you are putting your emotions first, instead of functionality, thus why we think its weird.
if the MDX does not function the way you want it to, look at another vehicle that does have "manlier" functions.
if the MDX fits and functions for your needs (as it should, family comes first) then your emotions are void.
basically who cares if its manly or not.
its a luxury SUV meant to carry a family and the occasional boat haul.
Have you looked at the Durango?
or any other "american" badass manly SUVs?

you are making assumptions about me not considering the functionality first. I have already done that, and now at the next stage that you are describing as emotional one, by looking at the "cool" factor. If I didn't care about the cool factor then I'd be shopping the minivan isle.
Hell to the no on the "big three-made" SUVs, due to reliability, lack of refinement, and poor resale. I would seriously consider CTS-V wagon, however, if was looking at station wagons.

Well there are some vehicles out there that are considered too "feminine". However, I don't consider the MDX to be in that category.
Yes we have a MDX and technically it is my wife's car. But I drive it the most. If my wife didn't want one then I would have probably have traded in my TSX for one eventually.
If you're in the market for a great SUV, you should at least test drive it.

I bought my 15 MDX as my car regular car and to take family around etc.
I do have a summer fun car and then a Subaru Legacy gt for an all weather fun car as well.
MDX is very comfortable and I love driving it so far. Only 800 miles on it so far.
It doesn't look aggressive at all really but I'm not remotely embarrassed to be driving it and be a guy. Then again Im not as self conscious as it seems you may be about it.
Running boards make it look more suv like. More aggressive wheels/ tires would make the biggest difference as the stock ones look very dinky.
I also hate they got rid of exhausts tips.

2015 MDX here and I LOVE IT!
Wife drives her 2009 c300 and I trading in my 2008 Tsx (couldnt pass up the trade in value) for a bigger "Family" vehicle.
Take one for a test drive and put the trans in Sport and IDS in Sport then come back and let us know if its a chick car.

@Kostyan You just have to ask yourself if you'd be embarrassed to be seen in it. If you equate chiseled looks with manliness and soft lines being more feminine then yes, the latest 3G MDX does skew towards the ladies compared to last gen. However it's by no means bad. IMHO it's still classy enough for both genders.
If you study the pics and videos in the marketing jargon, it's no secret that Acura wants to market the MDX towards female clientele.
If you are going to cringe, have buyer's remorse or second guess yourself each time you open the door to the garage or see it in the parking lot, then you should keep shopping. Spending 45-55k should not make you feel that way. Most modern cars are fairly reliable, esp if you can wait until the MMC where most bugs are worked out and all originally planned features are added in.

If you like the MDX, go and buy it!

You are right to question the manliness of the MDX. I failed to consider this aspect when I made my purchase and I was constantly harassed everywhere I went. People were making V gestures with their fingers and calling me a fancy boy. My bros won't invite me over to watch football games and no one calls anymore when they are headed out to the bars.
I am a real man but the ridicule was too much... I had to do something about it. So a few weeks ago I went out and took a hammer to my MDX. Took care of the hood, roof, and driver's side pretty good and while I was out there with my tool belt fixing things I tried to straighten some of the misaligned panels. I really think it has improved the look of the MDX and I no longer get any comments about the SUV's (or my) manliness.

You are right, can't go wrong with an MDX, or any Honda product for that matter, even the Odyssey, but somehow the vehicle styling does not speak "business" to me the way an X5, even the 2007-2013 E70 does.
