Question Location of the handsfreelink module?

Hello,

I think my BT has gone bad and it's draining my battery. Does anyone know the location of the handsfreelink module inside the 2015 MDX?

Thanks.

Is it not above the rear view mirror?

I’m 95% confident that the telematics and handsfree link module is just inside the inner kick panel in the drivers footwell. It’s an easy trim panel to remove. Just move the seat all the way back, remove the drivers mat, and give some firm tugs on the panel. Start at the bottom and work up. I’ll confirm the location for you tomorrow. I’m pretty sure I have that drawing saved on my computer at home. I downloaded a bunch of stuff from the Honda Tech site a while back.

2015 battery probably needs replacing. They only last 3 to 5 years. Why do you think it is BT?

Thank you. I would greatly appreciate it.

First thing I did was change the battery. And that didn't work.

My 07 TL had the battery drain issue. I disconnected the HFL and it fixed the issue.

I'm trying to eliminate the HFL in the mdx as the possible battery parasite. It's worth a shot.

Here’s what I have for the location. Don’t remember if the Telematics and Handsfree is one unit or two. Guess you’ll find out. Just remember that you might lose more than just BT connectivity while it’s unplugged. Hard to say what all runs through each module.

Also, if memory serves me correct, the module is actually mounted to the trim peice. Makes it a challenge to reconnect everything while trying to put the trim panel back in place.

I remember that this was a big issue for some 2G Acura vehicles. Believe there was even a class action lawsuit filed at one point. Not sure if it carried over into the 3G though.

This is very helpful. Thanks!
