Inconsistent release of electronic parking brake

Inconsistent release of electronic parking brake
A couple of months into ownership of this 2017 MDX Hybrid, we’re finding an inconsistency in releasing the electronic parking brake when the button is pulled after the car is started and brake is pressed and held. I took of pic of the icon that shows up in the MID....sometimes I can get it to release by adding throttle but sometimes that doesn’t work either. I have searched the paper owners manual as well as the cd-rom and I have not even been able to find an explanation of the icon in the MID. Its inconsistent and frustrating. I am hoping someone here knows what I am doing wrong or has had this issue before.

It goes without saying that my foot is firmly on the brake and everything behind me is lit up like a Xmas tree from the brake lights glowing. Release and reapply the brake pedal may and most likely may not change the situation. The automatic release is also inconsistent. I was just hoping someone here has experienced this.

It seems we have a winner. Although our idea of pressing firmly on the brake is different from Acura’s. I was able to consistently replicate the icon popping up on the MID and by pressing a bit harder on the brake and then pulling back on button, it releases.
VMDX: once I get the car out of the garage(not really wanting to run into anything), I’ll try the seat belt thing for the auto parking brake release. Although I always have my seatbelt on, sometimes it may not be latched as I start moving. Never been an issue on all the other cars and trucks I drive, but I’ve never had a vehicle this safety conscious before.

no jerk thoughts here about your suggestion. Even though I have more than a light foot on the brake pedal and the butt end of the car is lit up like a Xmas tree, applying another inch of travel closer to the floor appears to have done the trick. Now that we know what is needed to appease the engineers minds, should be smooth sailing on the parking brake thing.
