Acura is shafting MY 2016-18 MDX owners royally by not atleast updating the programming in our transmissions to mirror the 2019+ ones by now: The 2019 model year also brings significant drivability enhancements to MDX. Its 9-speed automatic transmission gains a smoother, more fluid acceleration feel in normal driving by prioritizing second-gear starts. When demand is higher in conditions such as full-throttle acceleration, certain uphill and towing situations, and when S-mode is selected, first gear starts are then prioritized for maximum available acceleration and pulling power.

Hope they get sued like hell for this.

Agree and Disagree. There is a limit to what programming can do if the design itself is bad.

Well I have had them program twice, it got better but still had issues. Also every car with this transmission had its users complain of issues so this gearbox is the worse that came out of ZF and probably worst Gb in current times.

Jeep forums are full of complaints.

One light tap on the brake pedal or pushing the cancel button on the steering wheel yields control of the vehicle back to the driver. If the plaintiffs are not smart enough to figure this out, they should be sued for lack of common sense. They should try reading the manual and should not be on the road.

If there are any lawyers reading my response that are defending Acura, please contact me as I would be pleased to testify on behalf of Acura's defense that this is not an issue. This happens to me often and has never been an issue. Would the plaintiffs prefer that the vehicle accelerate when the car senses an imminent collision???
This behavior is not just about the ACC, it is also sometimes the result of of the collision avoidance and autonomous breaking. The latter is independent of the ACC, and it doesn't matter if the ACC is on or off. In either case, the braking can be over-ridden by simply pushing on the accelerator pedal. There is no need to cancel the ACC. But it also sounds like some others in this thread, with the ZF-9 transmission are having a different problem. I know nothing about that because I have the hybrid.
