My 2017 MDX had an "exploding moonroof" on the freeway. The vehicle has 2700 mile and is less than 3 months old. The dealer/Acura of North Scottsdale, takes no responsibility and told me to file a claim with my insurance company! I have a Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering and the failure of the moonroof is caused by low pressure over that area of the roof, just like the top of an aircraft wing. This suction now doubt flexes the moonroof and the slightest glass flaw/scratch results in the equivalent of a sudden decompression on an aircraft. The remaining glass is angled upward not downward as in an impact. There are multiple reports of this and I have filed a complaint with NHTSA. As part of the repair I am having a wind deflector installed in front of the replacement moonroof. This is the aerodynamic solution to the problem. Sure I might get 0.2 mpg less, but I won't have glass shattering into my vehicle. Too bad Acura won't stand behind there product. This is not a "luxury" brand!
