I have a friend who loved my RDX so much he is looking to upgrade from his 9 yr old Mercury sedan that is about to give its ghost to a SUV. Since he is over 6 ft and have two tallish kids, he is looking at full size SUV and not a crossover. He test drove and loved the MDX but it is way out of his budget. He has narrowed his choices to either a tech Flex or wait for the 2016 pilot which he said is redesigned off the MDX platform and kinda looks like an MDX from the side.

Any thoughts on which of the two he should go with? He is looking to buy as soon as next month when the 2016 Pilot drops. I told him I'll check with the guys at the Acurazine forum and get back with him. TIA!

How about you tell your friend to go drive each of them for a day and then let him decide. He needs to ask for an EXTENDED test drive, not just a shitty 15 minute one. If the dealership says no, tell him to go to another one and ask.

We have no idea what he does, what he wants, what he'll use the vehicle for, what his budget is, what dealer incentives there are, etc, and the little amount of info you gave us is really just the tip of the iceberg.

Since this is a Honda forum, there will be some bias towards Hondas.

If your friend loves the MDX, he will sure appreciate the 2016 Pilot. The MDX production is halted for the Pilots production. There should be many similarities between the two. With that being said, your friend should still drive the Edge. At the end of the day, that's the only way to truly know.
