Disable VCM
Disable VCM
Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone put S-VCM in their MDX, since I found a lot of Odyssey and Pilot owner using it on new or older vehicle. they have a lot of concern about VCM.
Thank you

The VCM is a legitimate concern. It can cause spark plug fouling, blow-by and oil consumption. I strongly believe it's what has caused oil consumption in my '09 Pilot. I heard that Honda has improved the design since then so that it's not as much of a problem but I'd still consider disabling it.
One of my coworkers used the module from VCMTuner for his V6 Accord and has been very happy with it.

I haven't bothered with the Pilot. It has 250K miles on it and consumes about 1qt. per 2500 miles or so. I don't really care at this point. I just add oil and call it a day. But if I knew about it when I purchased it a few years ago with 130K, I would have snagged that module.

Are you saying VCM saves fuel or the VCM Tuner saves fuel? Lol. Any specifics on what you mean it "works great"? What symptoms was your RDX resulting in for you to purchase one? I have a 2013 RDX but haven't noticed any issues other than shift shock when going from 1st to 2nd but that was resolved with a TCM software update and tranny fluid change. And when coming to a stop I do feel the car seems to downshift but I thought it was just the transmission and the design of the car to assist with braking. I don't feel VCM "kick in" any time. I thought it was designed to save gas on the hwy when coasting but I don't feel it then either..
Yeah man for sure. I won't go as far as to say it's just anecdotal. I'm sure people do have problems. I do admit I do worry about the issue with the engine, burning oil, etc etc. I know the early issues was because of the seals or piston rings or something they used on other models (someone care to chime in?) but from my understanding the Acura's didn't have those so VCM wasn't much of an issue. But I have heard others complain too so now I am worried. But yeah, I don't ever feel the VCM. My oil levels are good. So yeah.. I dunno.
I would agree with VCM issue. have it on my pilot with 175K for past 60k only b/c i didn't know about it till i joined the Piloteers group.
but for sure don't feel that in and out of ECO mode flashing on the dash with the Pilot.
now new to us 2017 mdx, vcmuzzler in the mail as we speak from the origional vcm dude from canada.
hoping for similar results.
