Hello Everyone,
Ive been hearing a rattle in my dash near the glove compartment/passenger center vent. I doesn't happen all the time and temperature doesn't seem to have much effect.I have noticed that if I open the glove compartment door and hold the door down ( light pressure) it seems to lessen the noise. Does anyone else have this issue?
Thanks in advance.
I have a slight rattle coming from that area too. I have to take out my grand daughters car seat and my my bike rack and investigate. The other stuff in the car makes their own noise, hard to pin point. It's there, just not all the time.
I had this annoying rattle develop behind the passenger side dashboard, above the glovebox, and to the left of the ac vent. It ended up being an electrical box. Something is rattling inside of the box but I was unable to remove it because the mounting bracket was fastened with tamper proof bolts. I reseated the box and the rattle went away. There is still something loose inside of the box and the rattle can still return.
I did some digging, and the unit in your MDX appears to be the Security Smart Power Control Module.
With my 2013 RDX, I pulled the driver’s side vent and found I had a similar issue with an electrical box rattling. In my case it turned out to be the Anti-Theft Control Module.
To fix it, I removed the module and its bracket, added some furniture pads between the bracket and the module, and then zip-tied the plastic housing. The foam alone didn’t help much—the real problem was the plastic casing itself rattling where the connector plugs in. It seems like the housing is made with pretty thin plastic, and that’s what causes the noise.
The problem is that I now hear the same rattle in my passenger side dashboard lol. I'll investigate this as well.
