Battery maintenance

Our cars aren’t being driven much these days, particularly my wife’s 2016 BMW X1. To prevent premature failure of the battery will be trickle charging with a CTEK “7002” charger. Any issues I should be aware of using this with our 2020 MDX hybrid? Ideally would like to use the “comfort connect” adapater which makes use of the cigarette lighter in the cabin rather than the positive and negative terminals under the hood. Is the MDX battery an “AGM” or normal battery? The charger has a couple different modes from which to choose.

my 2019 hybrid has a FLA battery (flooded) not an AGM. Also I don't believe you can charger through the cig lighter. I believe it is only connected to the battery when in accessory mode or running. Look at the battery. It will either say "flooded" FLA, or AGM. If it doesn't say AGM it more than likely is NOT a AGM battery.

According to the manual, the negative terminal can only be accessed by removing the engine cover. Is there another grounded location that is more accessible? (Not an EE...)

Per the item page:
The socket in the vehicle must be live when the ignition is in the “off” position to charge your battery using this accessory.
Just connect it to the battery, i think you're going through a lot of hurdles for a not so elegant solution

The manual would have you remove the engine cover to get to the negative terminal, however opening the hood....the negative terminal is plainly seen and accessible to the left of the cover. So disregard.... at least if you drive a 2020 hybrid. And the battery labeling has no indication of being AGM so I think the science is settled here.
