Base MDX plus DVD player

Would you recommend getting MDX base model and having dealer install the split screen DVD screen in back? Beyond 19" wheels I don't see any other features I must have in the different packages. The dealer says he can install it for $1800. Any recommendations or advise? Am I missing something?

I don't get much use from my Ent system in my 11 MDX. I get 10X more use from our 128GB iPad Mini I can tether to my iPhone with shared 30GB of data for internet. I just have a head rest mount and removable bluetooth keyboard sync'd to it. I like the added flexibility and ease of use I get with the iPad (movies, music, internet, netflix, games, banking, email, youtube, etc...). The iPad keeps the kid (and wife) entertained on the road, airplane, beach, at home, hotel rooms, or pretty much any other location. Doesn't matter if I take the MDX, RDX or TSX since the entertainment follows us in any vehicle. I even connect the iPad to the HD TV in hotel rooms when I can to watch movies/netflix (TV entertainment selections usually suck in hotel rooms). I have a program on my laptop to rip DVDs into the iPad format. I just get my DVDs from Netflix to rip and sync 20-30 movies at a time on the iPad for everyone (haven't had a need to buy a DVD in years).

Another bonus with my iPad is I have a wireless Eye-Fi SD card on my DSLR camera. When I take pictures/movies with the camera, they are x-ferred to the iPad in minutes using SD card instead of waiting to get back to the Hotel or Home.

An iPad (or android solution) might not work for you; but, it is a cheaper solution with more flexibility down the road.

I am with MRGOLD...DVD thing is old news. My kids now just use their iPads. iPads are cheaper, easier to use, etc.. Like MRGOLD, i have family shared phone plan...so, plenty of data for my 3 kids to stream. YOUTUBE is the answer if you don't have any storage in your iPad.

Save $2k and get each of your kids an iPad. They will enjoy it a lot more. Hell, my 2.5 yr old has an old iPad from the older kids and he loves it...and yes, he even knows how to close out apps!

In addition, for me, i buy or rent movies on iTunes...so, i can download any of those movies to iPad for road trips. Why buy DVD (or BLU-RAY) when they cost the same or cheaper on iTunes or Google Play?
