ANALYSIS - AcuraWatch Pricing on Base vs. Technology

Let me see if I understand this correctly...

If you add AW to a Base MDX, you get the following for $1,500:

LDW, FCW, LKAS, CMBS, RDM, and ACC. Seems like a great deal.

Now, the Technology package already includes LDW, FCW, and (added for 2016) LKAS.

If you add AW to the MDX Tech, you get the following for $1,200:

CMBS, RDM, and ACC.

Seems like with the Base + AW, AW is a fantastic deal... but with the Tech + AW, AW is not very feature rich.

I think the price is right. If Tech + AW was any less they might as well not have the trim and just up the price of Tech trims. If CMBS, RDM, and ACC were, say, $800 it would be an amazing deal I think. If it were $1000 it's a solid deal. $1200 makes people think and gives enough room for the trim to exist.

Is Advance trim price worth it on 2016's now that AW package is available on every trim level ?
I think Advance is $4500 over Tech+AW level.

I wish Acura would offered cooled seats option on the lower trims would be my vote for an added feature. Maybe they might offer a sport+ or other performance upgrades on the MMC Adv models?

Sorry, silly idea. If you think Honda/Acura would offer (just) ventilated seats as an option... you don't understand (or appreciate) Honda's (largely) successful feature packaging strategy.

Just asking about if AW adds enough given that Tech includes LDW, FCS, and now LKAS.

People thought seat heaters were a silly idea when they first came out.

My sister-in-law purchased an IS250 base version a few years ago and added the OEM cooled seats a very min cost. Either aftermarket or OEM front/rear seat heat/cool will become an option for a lot of brands down the road. Even living in NM, we get a lot more use from our rear seat heaters compared to ACC/BSI/CBMS combined.

I like the new range of safety features; but, you may/may not get full use depending on you driving skills and luck. Its like having car insurance for +20 yrs and never getting into an accident. I would still like to see improvement I can use everyday like, improved mpgs, performance, handling, smartphone integration, etc... Just adding $300 Hondata to my RDX made it easier to drive and it performs better in the mpgs area also.

Whether or not ventilated seats are are a great or silly idea is irrelevant. You're are a Acura customer... so (1) you know Acura doesn't sell individual features like this, and (2) it has absolutely nothing to do with the AcuraWatch package.
