I searched for info about the release date for the redesigned model but can’t find anything recent. Anyone have updates? Thanks.
Acura is very good at keeping release dates "hush hush" until the last possible moment. We all figured an early-to-late summer release this year back in 2019 for the 4th Gen MDX. Unfortunately; Corona Virus would certainly delay any early release of all models from any manufacturer. Best we can hope for is early/mid fall release ASSUMING Corona doesn't kick up again in the fall months.
The 2021 MDX very likely would have been displayed in the New York auto show, together with some release date information.
However, with the cancellation of the auto show, all 2021 MDX info will be pushed further out into the summer.
But according to the Acura model release trend, the new MDX will arrive in showrooms at around Sept this year, unless the Coronavirus fiasco forces further factory showdown.
Honda Pilot, MDX base/tech/adv, and maybe MDX Type-S? I don't think a hybrid would be available now for testing since it was such a low volume vehicle with the 3rd Gen.

The car next to the MDX isn’t a Pilot. It’s the refresh Odyssey.
I'll bet the Odyssey will have more updated tech and features compared to the MDX for $15,000 less.
I mean it has already been revealed and it’s just a refresh not a redesign. No Honda has Traffic Jam Assist and Acura claims the MDX is their new flagship, which is suppose debut new Acura exclusive technology. https://hondanews.com/en-US/honda-au...-camera-system

The MDX will get a significant upgrade that will shock a lot of people including things like massage seats and air suspension. It should also debut the full precision cockpit that will introduce the customizable digital display.
I won't be looking to upgrade my current 19 MDX Hybrid Adv anytime soon. I like to wait until after the MMC because Acura usually does a refresh of styling, luxury, and tech. I just hate it how Honda can leap frog over Acura in tech and engine choices before Acura because of the design schedules (carplay sooner and on more models, updated info-tainment, getting ventilated seats in an Accord before the base/tech TLX, hybrid CR-V before the hybrid RDX, handsfree liftgate sensor, etc...). The only major thing that is unique to North America Acura is the sport hybrid powertrain system (hybrid system is in the Honda Legend over seas).

Where are you getting this information from? I assume the dash and center console region will be similar to the new TLX, which will have probable partial digital instrument cluster like the RDX.
I would really consider a model with air suspension as I was eyeing a Audi Q7 Prestige but I have doubts that will happen unless you can lead to more substantial proof. +/- don't care about massaging seats.
Interesting that MotorTrend has a "Confidential - Do not duplicate or distribute." graphic for dealers. Still ambiguous in terms of release time frame.

I can't provide where I get that information from, but it's even in some spy shots you can see there will be air suspension. I wouldn't buy a Q7 before the MDX debuts. That's just me.

I'm thinking the MDX Type S will be cheaper than the Q7 Prestige as well.
Yes, so glad the MDX will be getting massage seats. A family member is in the market for a luxury CUV & that was a must-have feature. They previously had a GX & MDX but was looking at MB due to that option.
I have long felt that Acura has lacked in the luxury - creature feature - comfort department & hopefully they are finally going to catch up there.

The MDX will get the full digital the TLX doesn't have.
It would be sweet if you can move the Navi into the instrument cluster to free up space on the single top console info-tainment screen. Hopefully, we will have the option to change what data is displayed and colors of the digital gauge cluster also.

You can see they'll have different options here. I'm assuming based on drive modes. I'm so anxious to see this since it's been four years since they showed the concept.

if you search the forums for the CGI leaked photos from last July you will see the MDX has the digital gauge cluster, several seating functions including massaging and power head adjustment and several suspension adjustment including lift option. The same images were spot on for the TLX and many of us figured TLX wasnt getting the full digital cluster.
I'm thinking the Type-S MDX might be a sport hybrid.
I really hope so!
My dream model would be a plug in Sport Hybrid with a 50hp+ bump from the current model. Seeing that I drive 60 miles round trip daily I want more electric range with 40mpg+. I may look into a used Telsa Model S for my next vehicle if there isn't a sporty hybrid version in the line up
My local news just reported that the Acura MDX 2021 was amongst new model year release delays. They did not report the length of the expected delay. Pretty sure we all expect this, but first confirmation I had come across. Bummer.

I wonder if Acura and other car manufactures will delay any scheduled updates to current models also since sales are so low? Pretty much every Acura is due for a refresh or all new model in the next 6-18 months. Acura and others might bump some/most/all models one extra production year to see if the auto market/COVID-19 improves during the upcoming fall/winter/spring?

The dealer video says it'll be here 4Q. It originally was going to ne at dealers in September.
The TLX was July at first and now hitting dealers in September. The MDX should hit dealers in November if no more delays so overall a two month delay for both models.

The 2G TLX official debut is in May. Does it mean that the 4G MDX official debut will be in July ?
I'm thinking the Type-S MDX might be a sport hybrid.
I doubt, Current sport hybrid does not send engine power to rear wheels, only 70hp or so is available to rear. With new turbo engine, there is no logic in not sending that power to rear, and if they do both, transfer mechanism to tranfer power to rear and also add batteries and motors for rear wheels, it will add weight and deteriorate power to weight ratio.

I hope they do some type of e Turbo for MDX - S.
I was thinking it would be almost the reverse engine set-up now and as the NSX with turbo engine+electric power FWD and electric motors on the rear for the Type-S MDX. Even adding the NA 377hp/341tq 3.5L hybrid set-up from the RLX would move the 4th Gen MDX into Type-S territory. The rear electric motors in the MDX and RLX are very responsive and you can feel the improved handling/tq in maneuvers. Power just gives out +75 mph; but, most of us don't need that much performance +80 mph.
I'm just thinking (wishing) out loud. Making the Type-S MDX a sport hybrid with +375hp and +28 mpg combine would move performance into the AMG, S-Line, M, SVR, and GTS SUVs range.
