2020 MDX CPO Document Record

Hello,
My cousin bought a CPO MDX with 62K miles in a different city. Not only the dealer hid the CPO charges on the published price online, they also have falsely certified the car as an CPO in all probability with just a 182 point checklist given as “meets standards”. After the first week, it was veering off the road. Upon taking to the local nearby dealer it was found to have torn bushings with alignment fail. As a CPO, it was rectified. When called to the dealer where he bought, there was no record of the alignment being done. In spite of asking for the service record, the dealer did not send the alignment service done. Now again, the vehicle is making strange hissing/pitching noise when the gas is pressed. Upon further checking for service history, no scheduled fluid changes were performed at the dealership where it was bought (since it was leased from the same dealer and all carfax records are from the same dealer). When called, he was told that the prior owner declined all fluid changes and that the only thing that was checked was the level and quality. Of course the owner would have declined since he always knew he was returning the car back after the lease was over! This is hard to digest as the CPO charges were almost $2800 that was paid but for what?! The dealer now says that they called the previous lease owner and confirmed that the fluid was changed before deciding NOT to service any fluids. How stupid can that be? Isn’t this a case of blatant cheating or misleading as part of the CPO done?

I purchased my 18 RLX CPO back in 2019 with 7200 miles. I didn't get a check list of the 182-point inspection. I used the CPO warranty for bad 12v battery, missing plugs in trunk causing water in spare tire wheel well, and replaced the rear electric shade. I always figured a CPO warranty was easy money for Acura; especially, for low mileage or lease returns vehicles that are serviced 100% at the dealerships. I "think" you have the option to decline the CPO warranty and drop the 6/7 year 100,000 miles of CPO coverage. The only time I would think you couldn't decline the CPO warranty is when it was added by another dealership before the MDX was traded in? CPO is pretty much Acuracare with 182-point inspection. You can't get Acuracare on a vehicle with +50,000 miles and assuming the same for a CPO warranty? Maybe the MDX was trade in months earlier with less than 50,000 miles, slapped the CPO warranty on it, used as a parts/loaner vehicle, and then placed on the lot for sale?

Either way, I would get everything fixed 100% and think about changing out all fluids/filters (engine oil/filter, transmission/transfer case, sh-awd rear diff, brake fluid, cabin filter, engine air). I would also check out the donut spare and tools if you have sh-awd (missing tools, jack, rusty donut spare, low spare psi). Might be worth taking the MDX to a 3rd party for an alignment and suspension inspection (bushings, alignment, strut/shock inspection). I just had my front control arm bushings and motor mount on my 19 MDX replaced under Acuracare a few months ago (fixed at +85,000 miles). I still took my MDX to Firestone to double-check the alignment afterwards (lifetime alignment with before/after printout from Firestone)
