2019 MDX A-Spec Owner Rant
I want to give a heads up to those potential buyers. While the new interior looks awesome, I think there are things Acura didn't anticipate with using this Alcantara material. Compared to the regular leather seats, the Alcantara is stiffer and doesn't feel as "cush." As I'm on my 2nd month now, the material has been somewhat broken into, and you can now feel the material "skipping/rubbing" across what I assume is the inflatable lumbar support. At first, my wife thought it was our son kicking the back of the chair, but when we started to feel it when he wasn't there... Now, when you accelerate from a stop, or when you adjust yourself in the seat, you'll feel it. Btw, this is both, the driver and passenger, but the passenger side is more subtle, obviously, as it's less used. I will be informing the service department on my next visit. It may or may not bother some, but never-the-less, something I didn't expect when buying an Acura.

We had a TLX A-spec loaner (not RED) with the Alcantara seats, and the wife asked why the A-spec had downgraded to cloth and vinyl seats :-) The car had about 3k miles on it and certainly didn't feel as upscale as you'd expect it to be. Still not sure why they thought the inserts were a good idea...

Because Alcantara conveys sport and sporty is what they're going after with the A-Spec. Alcantara grips you better and is popular in Japan for bucket seats. That being said, over the years, Alcantara looks worse and worse because of the constant smushing you do to it. And if you spill on it, woof.

They're still at first but with time will get worked in and feel better, trust me. I have my car for almost two years and the seats look like brand new. My previous TLX had regular leather seats and the leather was so cheap on 2015 models I already had holes in my driver seat. I'll take the Alcantara any day.

We just picked up our A-spec last week so this will be interesting to see how the seats pan out. Wife is pretty clean driver, so we'll see how they hold up.
Anyone have thoughts on scotch-guard for the seats?
I agree the leather has always been questionable, we repaired or replaced lots of seats when I was at the dealer.
