2019 MDX Base (NEW) vs. 2016 MDX Advance?

Was shopping used 2016 MDX Advance/Tech and they all seem to be in the 30-33k range. I keep getting offered new 2019 MDX Base for around 37k (looks like they are trying to move them off lots). Is it worth it to spend the extra cash for a new mdx? Price diff doesn't seem that extreme.

Are they both sh-awd?

Considering the 19 MDX will have the updated styling, a smoother 9AT, and Apple/Android Carplay along with AcuraWatch makes it a very competitive vehicle compared to a used 16 tech/adv model. I think the only thing you are giving up in the 19 MDX is BSI, rear cross traffic, cooled seats, and front parking sensors compared to the 16 MDX. You won't even miss the Acura navi system if you are already familiar with Waze, Google maps, or apple map programs already. Using Siri for music, streaming, texting, searching destinations, and entering navi addresses is ridiculous easy at anytime compared to the Acura navi/info-tainment system that locks you out of the navi once you start to drive.

I would only go with the 16 MDX if you like that color combo or styling better.

Of course sh-awd! Best thing acura has. Any difference in seats? Wife loved the seats in the 2019 Advance package, not sure if the 2016 Advance seats were the same?

The seats will have the same basic design and functions. The Adv versions will have an upgraded Milano perforated leather with cooling features on both front seats (just perforation on the rest). I find the perforations and/or cooled seats really help if you live in very hot or very humid places. Cooled seats should be a dealer add on for any trim level like it is for Lexus.

don't really need the cooling on the leather, my wife just mentioned the seats felt better to sit in? Are there different bolsters or is the leather nicer between Base / Tech / Advance?

I really don't know? It might just be the slightly different seat construction to accommodate the cooling fans and the different texture of the Milano leather for the Adv models? Maybe the Milano seat have a different seat cushion material underneath?

I would not downgrade to a lower trim. Keep the unit you have.

Hmm...just found a 2015 Acura MDX Advance (35k miles) for around $26k. I'm much more familiar with it's transmission as well!
