2018 MDX Sport Hybrid Adv vs 2019 Sport Hybrid Tech
other than the comfort features of an Advanced vs Tech, any driving differences?
im considering a 2018 Hybrid Advanced Certified with 9k Miles vs a 2019 Hybrid Tech new. Same color combo, similar price.
i realize the Certified has a longer warranty than the new one.

I believe the Advance has the Active Damper System while the Tech does not

Burning Brakes
Active Damper System is Standard on both Tech and Advance Packages Sport Hybrid. Acura website is wrong. Well at least in MY2017 MDX Sport Hybrid. I don't think MY2018-19 is any different.

All Hybrids come standard with active shocks

6-10 speed Auto I would consider it but the CVT really holds it back. I've had a CVT and it's gets old real quick. My wifes old 1998 Civic 4 speed auto was more enjoyable to drive.

They have an issue that has been happening with gas getting into/combining with the engine oil, plus gas fumes getting into the cabin because of the issue. Apparently the design of the engine doesn't fumes allow to burn completely off, but rather get into the oil, then the cabin. The problem is caused by the gas not burning off completely during short trips because the engine doesn't get hot enough to do the job during short trips. Seems to be that the colder the temperatures outside cause the problem to manifest. Saw one instance of 40 degrees in Dallas being cited as an example.
This is kind of a broad description of the issue, but an internet search will yield quite a bit more detail to those interested, just search "CR-V gas in oil". The problem apparently began with the 2017 model year. Because of the gas in the oil, the CR-V also may stall and /or operate only at low speed. There was a recall of 350,000 (not a typo) CR-Vs in China. Honda is explaining that there is no safety issue (stalling?) and they have no solution for the problem at this point. And they are continuing to sell them.

An LED or light on the dash somewhere or a decal/designation somewhere under the hood perhaps.
TIA

Mmm if you open up the covers under your hood for the strut attachment bolts, you can see a whip coming out of the top of the active damper strut to a nearby controller. I don't think there's any indicators in the cabin though.

If you have Active Dampers, they'll be integrated with IDS system, so changing to "Sport" should measurably stiffen the dampers for a harsher ride compared to a much softer ride in "Comfort". In mine I can tell a big difference in stiffness going over bumps between "Sport" and "Comfort"

downside/upside to the advance pkg vs. tech package is second seat configuration. Advanced has two heated bucket seats, tech has a split bench no heated seats (3 people). For us the advance second seat was an advantage, to others it may be a disadvantage. Although with the bench, I doubt that an adult would be very happy in middle for any length of time. Kids, probably ok.
