2017 MDX .. or ......??
Ok partners,
So what to do !!?? Thinking of getting a new MDX or compatible With the onset of the 2017 MDX coming out vs Audi Q7, or other competitors. Is the MDX 2017 the best bang and car for that matter for the dollar? The Q7 is in a diff league but is it worth the $$ if you wish to keep the car for 4-6 years ? I am also concerned about VW ( Audi) imposing Maint $ hikes to pay for the diesel disaster they incurred.... Audi are already pricy to maintain
Lastly Did Acura update their less they crisp nav and back up screen / system? Last time I used a loner ( 2016MDX) it was awful. Sllow processor 20/40 blurry screen I have a 2014 TL Adv and the nav and backup screen is very sharp.
Thoughts ?

all your questions can be answered by test driving both vehicles for an extended period of time.
by asking us, you're going to get subjective answers, that may or may not answer your own questions. like for example, you are on an acura forum and you will get biased answers.
2nd; if you didnt enjoy the infotainment system and another did; this would be a stalemate.. the only way to tell if the new '17s got updated is to get check the infotainment system out for yourself!!

Well, the best bang for your buck will probably be a late 90s Chevrolet Prizm - Low price because it's a Chevy, but Corolla mechanically, low initial purchase price and property tax, a LOT better on gas than a MDX or Q7 and only needs regular fuel.
The Q7 is really in a different league though -- If you're looking for "bang for your buck" maybe even take a look at the Buick Enclave or GMC Acadia, which, IMO, is a more direct competitor to the MDX than the Q7. Also take a look at the Volvo XC90 - It's a great car and really selling well right now.

Just a word of caution on the XC90 infotainment. While it is pretty snappy once it is up and running, it can take FOREVERRRRR to startup (like 2-3 minutes) and reboots from time to time. Thought the updates OTA would fix it, but they have not. Some owners started out with no problems and now have non-stop issues (e.g. black screen of death). Replacement of entire units don't even seem to be helping.
Q7 though, I love except the exterior. I really miss the old style. It was .. beefy.

I just went through all of this and ended up with the '17 MDX. I Was really set on getting the XC90 based on all of the reviews and articles. While I like the Q7 a lot, and I've had an A4 and A6 previously, it starts at the MDX advance package price. It's easily $10-15k more when it really comes down to it. I rule it out based on the fact that Car and Driver had it only beating the XC90 by a little bit. So I went and test drove the XC90. I was under impressed. Actually disappointed. It ride stiffer than I thought. Wasn't crazy about the interior. The arm rest sucks. It's low and back. It only has one usb plug in the whole thing! I didn't see where all of these stellar reviews came from. So we went and drove the MDX. There are not really alto many other options in the $55k three row catagory as nice as the MDX. It's a winner. It drove remarkably smooth for how well it handles. It still has the over use of plastic that Acura loves to do, but it's not as noticeable with the black interior. I think you will be happy with the '17

Second row bench seats
it is truly amazing that I cannot get a confident answer to my question about the availability of a bench seat for the second row in in advance model with entertainment. The dealers seem to be in the dark. I could not find a search function to access window stickers. Does anyone have a 2017 MDX advance with entertainment with the second row bench seat?
