2014 MDX vs. Porsche cayenne
2014 MDX vs. Porsche cayenne
Comparing between 2014 MDX and the porsche cayenne. I know the porsche has the premium look and status look that the MDX can't match. But is the cayenne going to be as reliable as the MDX after spending 16K more.
I've always had hondas/acura and think they are great value cars and I know many acura owners on here share the same feelings. So i'm interested to know what you guys think about this. So in terms of value is the cayenne a good buy at this price point or should I save the money and stick with MDX?

Cayenne will geta face lift in a year or less. I say if you have the funds and don't need third row seating, go for Cayenne. It's a in a different league in terms of prestige. I was shocked how expensive Cayenne was after you add even the simplest options (e.g. automatic transmission).
yeah the new facelift would be a consideration. dont want something thats gonna be outdated in a year, although it appears there doing minor upgrades for 2015. 65K to 67K price point is where you get a decently equipped cayenne looks like.
I'm pretty sure the 2014 MDX will come with its fair share of problems as its a new model year release. The Cayenne hasn't also fared well in reliability according to usnews rankings: http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com...rsche_Cayenne/
My 2 cents on the matter, If and when something goes wrong or breaks, one thing is for certain, a Japanese vehicle is a lot cheaper to service or fix then any German vehicle.

Look at the cayenne with options on the mdx. cant get all options such as around view in canada. Was pushing towards 6 figures. Valuewise, mdx is much better. For prestige cayenne would be my topmost choice if I can afford it.

Diesel Cayenne has more center stack buttons than the old MDXs
nice looking rig and the diesel is really solid ... Generally reviewers find the VW Touareg more pleasing overall for the money (generally have same underpinnings).

Couldn't agree more with you guys. For the money, the mdx appears to be such a better value. The wife likes the cayenne but would have to fork out another 16k to 20k for the features i want upfront and then unsure how much more in maintenance over the years. Decisions, decisions.

An interesting sidenote is that the second-generation MDX when compared six-cylinder versus six-cylinder, was faster than the Porsche Cayenne in most tests. With the third generation MDX being eight seconds a lap faster around Nurembergring, I would imagine this still holds true.
If you buy a Cayenne, prestige is definitely the main factor. Of course, Cayennes are one of the most sportiest SUVs, however the MDX are tuned much firmer than others such as Toyota/Lexus products.
The biggest area of concern is maintanance costs. Trust me, it cost ALOT. I have a Cayenne, and there is a reason my TL Type S is my DD. But the Cayenne sure handles well too.

For the internet at large it's like "wow, my Toureg is built off the Cayenne....
