2014 MDX reverse clank noise

Anyone know what is causing a clanking noise when in reverse. It does not do it every time just once in a while.

Are you parked on a slight incline where after you put the gear in park and let off the brake and the car rolls slightly until the transmission locks up and stops the car? If this is the case, when you shift to any gear you will hear a clunk. To avoid this, every time I park, I use the parking brake so the car doesn't roll. Never have any sound when shifting next time I get in the car.

There is also a brake pad noise (like a clack or light clank) that occurs whenever you go in reverse. That is considered normal due to the free floating calipers and pad design.
